Title: Lurker saying Hi
Post by: Turbobanana5 on January 19, 2016, 03:35:40 PM
Hi or Moi as we say in this part of the world.
Currently living in Helsinki, Finland after moving here in 06 from Scotland.

basic background moved here due to offroad racing, planned a 3 month stay, 9 years later...oops

currently running a MX5 with a turbo install and many other goodies built by friend and i in our little mancave laboratory, Looking to move on to a 2+2 due to arrival of small person into my life, much googling brought me here as a decent source of rotary info,

Looking to stay in the Mazda family and well the FD3 has long held my attention as a desirable option.  So here i am lurking and reading and quietly seeking out an FD RX7.  Ideally in yellow but so far as i gather they are not to thick on the ground.

Moi!!! And welcome :)

Hmm, was that Scots saying:... Fit'lik?

I live in Hämeenlinna! And I am a massive rotorhead. (and moron) :D

As you might know allready, rotary scene here in Finland is quiet small. But there is few rotorheads here too. On facebook we have community Rotary Garage.

If I remember correctly, there is NO yellow FDs here in Finland. But there is few different colored on sale though...

If I can help in anyway, just ask. I know almost every rotor head here om northpole ;)

Morjens Japi,

Yes, Ill try to find those links. Nettiauto had few, few months ago but not now. In summer there was more sales adds...

Btw, are you member of our Miata club? I have been dreaming that some day Ill do a rotary swap for Miata. And I think I managed to figure out how to do it, I just have to "bend the rules". Our laws are stupid...

Hmm, was that "fit´lik" right? :) Not sure, dont remember...

Anyhoo, can you speak/read finnish? I just put "wanted" add for you to Rotary Garage. Seems like there is no FD´s on sale right now... :)

Just a thought; because of rarity of FDs here, I suggest that you import car from Uk or Japan. There is few Finnins companys who are importing cars dirrectly from Japan...

Now i only have the Yellow Turbo.  although it looks like it will have to go to make room for the FD idea now.  At least this year the rules have eased up a little makin life for us a little better.  Thanks for the wanted ad though

I do like our Miata club. I often visit their trackday at Ahvenisto. And love those turbo Miatas ;)

My plans is to swap Renesis engine(rx-8s) to Miata. New laws and rules so it should be ok...

No problem, happy to help. :) I asked from few dudes do they know FDs for sale. Lets see what they answer. Unfortunately most of them are in project condition...

Are you looking project or...?

Btw, in your introduction you said that you came here for offroad racing. What kind of offroad racing?

Like RallyCross? :P

no it was a little slower and dirtier

Project condition is ideal for me, I like to be able to have a tinker. The yellow car has mostly been built in our little lab my friend and i share.

Oh, I see, really really off the road ;) That is fun...

Do you like Finland? Or should I ask why? ;) Today, -31C... Make me want to move out off here. I want to go to UK... :D

Did you contacted that dude with two FD´s? I think he, and his cars are best option for you now. Unless you want to wait and see what comes up for sale...?

Anywhoo, if you like rallycross, you should come to Hyvinkää 7.5-16, first round of our national series. There is two fast rotarys in autocross series and my friend with Lada. I´m "mechanic" in his team. :)

Yes, I was thinking that what he was asking for them. Even projects are expensive here. Thats why import would be the best option...

There is good engine builder near you though...

Yes, you really should come to check rallycross. Its awesome scene! :)
