Looks real nice, good to see you have a Rotary back under you.
Seeing as it starts OK hot, to keep it healthy have a look at the ignition coils to see if the have been changed as these are the biggest cause of issues on RX-8's
Have fun out there.
going get cracking after new year got them on order mate at moto factors not sure if to put fullycynthetic 5/30 oil in as just bought 80 liters of it yes 80liters at a bargan price lol I get more pics up soon kev
lol should kempt my gob shut rrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Oils a bit like religion or politics on a rotary forum lol.
Everybody has deferent opinions...most of the rebuilders state 10w 40 semi mate.
Thens theres the premix debate!
I have to say that with RX-8 usually is daily driver and usually lacks maintanence, pre mix would be good idea...
I have seen a LOT those housings with scratch marks. :/ But wont say anything about oil :D
cheers fellas am bloody 54 new years eve and am past pushing cars up down stree
Age is only what you feel. ;) I´m 37 and sometime I feel like frickin´ 17 year old teen :D But I hate when my cars broke... :91:

You wont do it again though....if you really have to shut off cold and then not return for sometime hold revs at 4k and turn off. Ideally allow to warm...neddle just moving.

Welcome back to the rotary world :) I've had my RX-8 since new, so 11.5 years now. If you keep on top of the ignition components and change the oil every 6k then the engine will thank you for it!
Look around, with a full no-claims bonus you should get a much cheaper quote than that.
On the coils - beware, there are LOADS of fake coils on the market. If you fit a fake set, they can do more harm than good! Better to stump up and buy a set of the lastest Mazda OEM "C" spec coils from a reputable supplier. Oh, and if the original ignition leads are still fitted (black, thin and flimsy), ditch them for a decent set of Magnecor or similar. The original leads weren't much good when new, they'll be dreadful by now. They never sealed well against the plugs so the contacts on the leads and plugs would corrode!
Oil, don't use fully synthetic as it doesn't burn cleanly, use semi or mineral, preferably 10w40
I thought was dear the insurance pluss I never had claim as said not boy racer lol unless someone pissses me off ha ha these compare the market are shit and dear as foook I will be doing oil changes at about 3k and most other stuff to should bought rx7 then can get classic insurance cheep as chips are well need to sell some my cars lol keep black beauty thanks hope 2016 better year for all

Hi Kev,
Diesel oil is no good for any Rotary as its consistency is very different from "petrol" oil as it uses a lot of detergents to combat the heavy fuel oil ,
Running in oil has no guts to it and offers next to no bearing protection, personal I would only ever use this to run an engine up ans then drop it to clean the engines oil system.
I have said many times over the years, good oil is soooooo much cheaper than an engine ;)
Hope this helps
thanks bud I sort something out
