Title: IRS options for 82 fb

possibly looking to swap independent rear suspension in my 82 later on. is the answer always miata?

Ive looked at this on my live axled Westfield. Yes miata (mx5 in uk) and then the rx8 subframe are options. For me another option is Ford Sierra  but dont think you have them in the usa.  Its a lot of work however with a lot of factors to sort out .

we dont have sierras, i believe if i do it ill use the miatas rear end.

Yep just make sure you get an lsd diff. And a decent ratio..the special editions all came with lsd and the jdm's.

Well, FB's rear is good. It can take a lot of beating. And there should be lots of lsd's and rations on market in US...

But if you really want to change it, I would go with rx-8 or FD's

Ford Sierra rear is crap (sorry Jon) and Mustangs is too heavy. And you dont need that if you dont run with massive power.

Miatas little rear is crap too, and big rear has basically same internals that FB's .

Other option is to use Beemers rear. They are quite good, like E36 325

Thank you, i will probably stick with my live axle.  do you know of any cheap LSD?

Well, dunno prices in US but I would imagine that they are cheaper there than europe. Probably 200$...

However, I do have lsd diff with rare 5,125 ration in my garage. ;)
