:)) well its finally home......a case of less is more. covered in stickers and hydro dipping.
massive service history and folder full of eye watering mazda invoices....no sign of a rebuild and on 111000 miles.....it drove me home and then hot started 10 mins later.
BUT i bought it with a fault as then it just started clicking when tryng to start....looks like dodgy starter solenoid. cheapo ebay starter.
came with OE cat, decat, D585s, lockwood grills. after market oil coolers and braided lines unknown brand at mo, catch tank, alloy rad, new battery, good tyres, winddeflectors.
v loud exhaust...maybe toyo, aem intake and lots of standard parts.
got a p0171 code and seems a bit down on power. mot til march 2016.

Thanks mate...looks similar to the 1 on Tonys SC 8. Has not got the lower blade.....got a day off tomoz for a proper play and fiddle with it.

Might be real then! The other give away is the brackets, the genuine ones are metal, although many copies are starting to use metal brackets now too.

Ill have a good look at it tomoz. Sussed the po171 rather large vac leak. Wanna put the standard n3z1 starter motor i have on and see what the hot start is like as this motor when spinning is flippin fast so maybe masking hot start...worst case scenario a bounty of parts but drove fine no flashy misfire. Tad to loud and farty bin can for me....showing my age.

If that is a complete K&N induction kit it will probably run at less than it's best, they have long been known to give problems on the RX8. :( And that does indeed look like a Mazdaspeed wing judging by the brackets.

111000 miles....premix works though. Ive been right through history....no sign of rebuild. I reckon it also needs a fuel pump gonna test press tomoz.

Mazda spent alot of time designing the stock inlet air system and most aftermarket systems are a tube and cone filter. You could say the std set up is tuned for the engine. Memory failing but air velocity and such like.

Running 192 car with no hot start issue 60k and above starting from £800.00. If you just drive it home would not need registering straight away and its got 4 doors so family car! You could pick up a duff engine and stick that in the boot for about £180.

Yep.....think i sussed non start dodgy gearbox nuetral.....this is way harder to work on that the westy....flushed rad and block and sorted leak. E shaft sensor change as filthy. Stripping off blackout headlights nows.

Well chased my tail on the GB neutral switch in the end got the neighbour to crank and i got underneath after checking 12v at fuse box....dodgy solenoid crimp....cut off and new crimp seems ok now.
Sorted the rad leak and flushed and drained block of loads of sludge.
got an oil cooler weep on the after market coolers.....bumper off next to sort and go back to standard air box and remove light to clean off film.
still cant believe it starts hot....

Well i dont know what im doing with it. I only bought it as i was in the right place at the right time. It obviously was a no brainer and i want to do some tinkering with it to try and save it. Hoping for a few winter trackdays init but im waiting on dates for 2 ops 1 that puts me out of action for 8 weeks....not sure when ill find out on 9th of Nov.
But if when what ill give you first dibs onit 1 once i know its ok and 2 once ive decided what im doing in the big picture as car would be a good place to run in an engine as opposed to Westory. All id want is original outlay plus cost of service items so new oil n sparks from Clive. Just gotta remember at this mileage no guarantee it will get you home.......

Ive gone through ever reciept and theres a gap between 75k and when sold to last owner at 80k miles. Is it possible for a renny todo 112k. ? Mazda service history to 75k. Receipts there after. Wouldnt mind a comp test...could do both engines...

It's possible, DanBass on the RX8OC sold his first 8 which had over 100K on it. I think it had a compression reading in the high 7's

Omg its too loud....embarrised to drive it. Revs out clean enough but defo lost some horses atmo. No kick at 7500.

Im gonna have to offer prev owner his car back....after smacking his hand.....he thought it was going low comp as performance had dropped off....rear rotor leads on wrong . It flys now.

Phew...hes happy its fixed and moved on. Its also got goodridge braided brake hoses fitted... seems like i got very lucky indeed. Just need a quiet standard exhaust.

Had to take to local tyre place today...3 locking wheels off last 1 complete bugger. 4 sockets cracked including my high impact 1...and i hit my thumb . They got it off in a jiffy. He said his impact sockets are 30 years old and they dont make em like they use to.

Well great day on the budget 8. basically sorting bodges. properly installed aftermarket oil coolers. kit came with 4 sandwich plate adaptors and miles of braided hose and fittings so swapped out the damaged hose that was pointing down stopping the under tray going on with new hose and 2 90's. reflushed the rad as still murky brown and found another leak due to stripped jubilee on bottom hose so duly replaced that. drained the oil as seem to make sense as coolers had been drained. mounted said cooler properly as hung in place with wire wrap around end of chassis leg.
new sump washer fresh filter and 10w 40 semi oil. fun and games with under tray penny washer and self tappers did the trick.
satined blacked the front plastic trim to get rid of skull hydro dipping, got rained on and my cat Nismo walked over it but still looks better than skulls :)) spent so far £540.... :icon_music:
jobs todo feels like a warped disc on front ....but runout good so will strip the brakes down and see whats what!
hunt for some 17s alloys with good tyres. its got 4 very new three A's p606 fitted....there actually rather good.

oh and cut open oil filter and inspected oil......not a hint of swarf atall......i appreciate oil pressure gauge is more of a switch but im showing very good oil pressure more like 2pm on the gauge all my others 8 have been 11.30.....maybe its been rebuilt with uprated oil press reg ...or maybe after market coolers......

sorry its taken so long to get back to you but been speaking to Chris at wicked coatings. Bad news I am afraid you can remove the majority of the hydro dip but some of it will adhere to the plastic he says that if you use a paint stripper then be-careful on getting it to close to the plastic as I am sure you know it will melt the surface.
Wipe little and often washing off after each stage you can crack off the lacquer with fine gauge grit paper but he says it will still leave marks the only way to get rid of those is to spray back up in black. For me I would get second hand ones off eBay and clean up I am going to get mine redone in Carbon Fibre effect or Flame effect for Next year I got most of the covers just prepping them sorry carn,t be any more help ;)

Putting the 2KW starter motor i have on....fingers X she still starts hot quickly! This is the test bar a Compression test!

well ive been driving it about done 2 tankfuls of fuel and all seems good! need to flush the rad again its all gone brown again but apart from that happy days. Ive swapped the 2kw starter onto the nieghbours 8 and have his old 1.3kw n3h1 ....do i fit an burst the bubble...lol

Ive spent a couple of days on it sorting little niggles ideally needs another rad flush. Can come with synionic oil or fresh 10w 40 init atmo. It is modded with Tein lowering springs. Bhr coils kv85 leads. Alloy rad with silcone hoses.
Aftermarket strut brace rear spoiler.
Goodridge braided brake hoses all round. Aem copy i think induction system
Toyo decat with standard rear exhaust.
Good tread tyres but cheapo Three A p606s ....never heard of them but driven a few cars on ditch finders and these do alright...with good reviews...
Its got a red rear anti rollbar...not sure if RB...

Led light strip in boot.
Leather.231 no sat nav.

Previous owner was an rx8club member went along to few meets. Hes premixed it since owning from 2011. Came with a boot full of standard and non standard parts. Of note he did some dubious hydrodipping!!!!

oil catch tank installed. tow straps front and rear. no gearbox crunches tax n tested. MOT 16th march 2016. standard cat with car currently decatted.

Locking wheel nuts removed nuts replaced.
Had receipted sill welding done and paint. Looks a vgood job.
Lockwood grill set front and rear.
Climair wind deflectors.
Tints side and back windows.
Groove discs front and rear unknown brand discs and pads...no fade noticed.
Paintwork very good. 1 small scuff on front splitter not broken paint and 1 similiar on passenger main door...looks like most will g3 out.
Battery and starter motor very recent.
Sparks (hotter) have done 10k.
Fresh oil n filter full change inc. Coolers drained.
Far few Rotary Revs reciepts for good cond sump, bhr coils and fitting tein suspension.

Anybody interested take it away for a day. Use my tools to check stuff..do what ever you like . If it went bang in a month youve still got £800 odd of aftermarket parts....plus the car ....no brainer.

To be fair theres a big interest for these cars...at the prices there fetching there in reach of everyday man or woman. Guy had done his research wants to scratch the rotary itch. and my ad and video where fantastic! :P 17 watchers over 200 views in less than 24hours...theres rotor love out there!. id love to keep it tbh its my fave of all the others....Im sure i ll have another soon. :))

Taxing is based how old car is. Also you can get some relieves from taxes if car is damaged. (when you are importing car)
Im not sure how much taxes in rx-8 is now, but I´m quessing 2000â,¬ maybe. Also, this tax depends on car purchase price and comparison tax based on other similar cars.
Then the "comparison car tax". In year 2005 FD´s comparison was Porcshe 911 turbo. So automaticly tax was high. Our cars have out 75% tax so comparison tax will always be ridicilous.
Im not sure how that taxing goes nowadays, but back then if your FD cost around 5000â,¬ in japan, imported to here, and you would have to pay about 5000â,¬-8000â,¬ tax for that car...
