Post by: GrandadG on September 17, 2015, 01:30:11 PM
Hello i was after a little advice this is my sons car (who we lost a few years ago) this car has been in the garage for the past 7 yrs started every now and then just had it MOT (new tyres all round and a couple off brake pipes and wiper blades the tyres had plenty off tread on but because it had been stud the side walls had cracked i dont know very much about these cars all i can tell you is it runs well about 2 years prior to it been laid up the engine had been rebuilt, it has a Apexi computer with a remote hand set, turbo timer, loads off gages, I was wondering what it was worth there are a few small scratches and a crack in the front bumper at the bottom any advice would be welcome https://www.facebook.com/ashley.greensides?fref=ts#

As long as started regularly should be ok. If it hadnt been ran up to temp regulary the coolant seals would have perished....it really needs running....the guys that done mot will have a trade insurance policy....it needs driving to check turbos spooling correctly and leaks clutch etc.  Else its gonna be a gamble for someone. Other than that fair few specialist out there that could help they may ever off you a cash deal....where are you based ?

quick search

WGT Middlewich
Jimmys Norwich.
Rotary revs Birstall.

There maybe somone closer but thats what i turned up searching Rotary Specialist North East.

A good survey and health check will see price rise considerable....who was the rebuild by?

there is nothing on ebay for less than 7k...and rolling shells are 2k!

There getting rarer by the day so prices are rising.

To add to the rotary specialists listed above (who are all highly regarded), you have one even closer;

http://www.mx5motors.com/ (http://www.mx5motors.com/)

Don't be put off by the name. The guy who runs the place, Steve, is a true rotary enthusiast. He works on all types of rotary and he has recently restored an RX-3 (for himself) to an EXCEPTIONALLY high standard. Steve also has has incredible tattoo's, all based on a rotary/dragon theme, which now cover most of his arms and torso. A work of art...can't be more of a rotorhead than that  :)
