Nice. I like in-car vids, alot ;)
Btw, what camera you have?
It's a E Prance mini 0805. Check amazon. They are amazing dash/crash cams with full 1296 HD.
About £70 delivered iirc
Im on the look out for a new came the go pro has let me down on 2 or 3 occasions and battery life awful. Very overated imo.
Your car Neil i do not know much about it but youve proved it to be a very reliable track performer id like to know more buddy. If you could do a write up with pics and mods id really like a read and would be great for others tracking there fds.
No problems I'll do something tonight and post it up here.
So I've owned my fd for 8 years and used it mainly as a street car for 6 of those. Since I was using it less and less I started tracking it over the last 2 years. It started out as a freshly rebuilt totally standard jimmys engine when I bought it and within the first year I bought a pfc, decat, exhaust etc and had it mapped to 326bhp @ 0.9bar by pip at wgt.
I enjoyed the car for 4 years without any major issues until I decided I wanted more. From here I decided I loved the seq twin powerband so was gonna push it. From here I just did pretty much what I felt fit and ignored most "rotary advice". The myth that standard twins can't cope with more than 1bar, larger secondary injectors are a must and many many others I've just done my own thing with a understanding that if it pops is my own fault.
I went to my chosen tuner and asked his opinion for what I needed to run the standard twins on standard ports at increased boost and he recommended items which I bought and went to get fitted and mapped in a weekend. My jolly to Essex is well documented :-)
I've gone for a known brake set up with standard brakes, motul R400 fluid, lines and ferrodo 3000 on the front and 2500 on the rear with stopped grooved all round. A great great set up and very predictable without upsetting the car.
Suspension I got rid of uber rare eibach potenza mega dollar coilovers that were rock solid and replaced them with Meister Zeta R which have an awful rep in mazda circles but I've no idea why as they are brilliant and I really really rate them.
Anyway spec is as follows
95 Type R2
Standard engine, ports and body
Blitz LM fmic
Japspeed rad
Synapse synchronic bov
HKS twin power
Kv leads and r7420-10s plugs all round
AEM Water/meth injection 50/50, 550cc nozzle into standard plastic elbow.
HKS filters
ksp attain 3" downpipe
3" decat
RB single tail
Power fc mapped by jaydee to 1.2bar
Aside from this double throttle removed and check valves replaced for dale Clark vitons but everything else is oem.
Pressure regulator fitted and locked to 10psi in-line to the pressure tank limiting solenoid pressure to 10psi.
Meister Zeta R coilovers
Ferrodo pads, stoptech discs, braided lines and good dot 4 fluid.
Standard clutch and diff
Rota gtr 17" x 9 front with 235 yoko neova ado8r
Rear 17 x 9.5 with 255 ado8r
Full interior with rz kevlar recaros, oem strut braces and re-a c pillar brace.
Personal wheel
Carbon re-a steering gauge pod
Aside from this some feed side steps are the only change from oem.

Neil
Thanks mate. Car looks stunnning and tracking as you well know quickly shows up any weak links...truly sorted car.
Great vids, pics and write-up. Car looks and sounds awesome :)
Really good to see you actively track your FD as so few owners seem to do it.
Hey no problem, it's nice when someone shows in interest, forgot a few bits so gonna edit
OK can't edit so
Bosch 044 fuel pump and fuelab fpr with increased fuel pressure
Credit where credit due. Easy to build a car that blasts down the dual carriage but 10 to 15 mins constant abuse on track for 8 sessions plus another thing. Fair play. What do you about oil surge?
Oops yes I forget, all last year my oil surge prevention was wiping it off the inside of the bonnet and ic piping. This year I've gone with a vented catch can and I filled it halfway on Friday gone but at least the bay was a lot cleaner.
I do get issues with fuel slosh still but just keep it over half a tank and it's no problem.
Cool thanks Neil for taking time to post. More vids the better. Rotarys get under your skin and it great to see you enjoying yours. Im itching to book another just a few jobs todo. When its on song its awesome.
Always great to see an FD being used properly, excellent that your getting full enjoyment from a car that was built with race tracks in mind :wee_hee:
Apparently, there were 3 RX-8's there together, red, blue and camo. They've just posted up some pics and a short write--up. The blue one had a argument with a tyrewall, lots of panel damage, but repairable. Looks like his tyres weren't up to track work.
The same 3 posted up a great story about their trip to Spa earlier this year.
Yeah that's the guys I was talking to them in the day and took two of them out for passy rides.
Great you hooked up with them. They've just responded on the RX8OC site too, and said they had "fun" rides in your car :)
This was the damage to the blue RX-8......
The comment was;
"Sonic2 (Rick's car, not on the OC) did ok for its small amount of time on track, rubbish cold tyres and much loud pedal resulted in a few offs. One of which being into the tyre wall, ending the day for the car, and it now needs repair. Thankfully, the damage is mostly cosmetic, and we have a spare winning blue car for parts, it'll live to fight another day."
That's a lot of rear quarter panel damage though :(
