Title: 1990 RX7 FC
Post by: 1066john on July 29, 2015, 02:30:45 PM
I wonder if there is anyone who could give me some advice  , I have just purchased a low mileage I owner car   I am wondering if the car has central locking  ?  as when I use the key in the drivers door lock it also locks the passengers door , there is no solinod in the drivers side as the key will only lock both doors from the drivers side

would any one know if by chance there should be a key fob as I don't have one and  not sure if it had one and has been lost   I guess if it has there would be a receiver fitted  and if it has a location

I don't expect  it had one  but would like to clear up the matter  if it did  I guess I want one  if not  I will leave well alone

lastly I know aftermarket units where available  but I am only interested in  factory fitted so to keep it standard

thanks in advance

Good evening  John and a warm welcome to Mazdarotaryclub  :welcome:

You know I really want to see your car in the flesh but how about some pictures to be going on with?.

I'm sure our cabriolets locked both doors and I have just looked and found Mazda are listing a controller lock for both doors, so yes it should have central locking.

Here's a picture of our last cabriolet I have told you about :)

Hi Clive nice car looks very nice.  When I get the wheels done and the new hood should look nice.   The lock I found by chance it locks tooth doors with the key in the drives door. So I guess the passengers door. Has a solinod   But there is nothing in the drivers door if there was it would make sence to have a receiver  and a key fob but I feel it did not

Did you have chance to find about the wheels it seems only two inches are polished  and clear lacquer  so might keep standard and hand polish  the rim

Had a 323 of the same vintage with that 'central' locking system - ie locking the driver's door locked the passenger door but not the other way around. Japanese passengers obviously always got out first in the 90's - none of that 'holding the door open for the lady' nonsense. :)

Welcome also John.

I can only speak for my 1988 FC, but the central locking is controlled only from the drivers door.  There was no key fob.  I don't think this changed with later models but I stand corrected if someone disagrees!

89 Coupe does exactly the same. No fob.

Yup, confirmed my 89 vert was key only.

I did look into a central locking kit from a fob, its possible. For around£90.

Cheers

UK cars fitted with the optional laserline alarm system at the dealer had remote central locking, window and sunroof closure. :)
