As I have a spare engine and turbo setup, I have been looking into what I could use it in for the future, bearing in mind cost and use for the car. It will be for sprints/hill climb/track and a bit of drag.

This is a favourite so far, costly but looks great.
It would defo do the job....400 hp would be too much for mine. i think its good money. And as there moving premises a deal could be done.
That car would be around 600ho per tonne!!??
prob is and a good prob is that power...if it needs to be cheap then need an old gas guzzler with a big chassis that can handle the torque.
Rotary and torque?? Rofl
400 hp rotary still makes 300nm of torque??? at a guess?
Yeh just joking, turbos makes the rotor make torque.
Iv never seen one of those kit cars before. So good. I once saw some hill climbing and they were using roofless lotus's wish I could remember what they were
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1989-FORD-P100-BLUE-/331610092400?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item4d35807370 hang on......future cool.....rear atlas? dont laugh.
You just made me
Sick in myopathy with that. Hahaha
Lotus 2 eleven
very expensive.....whats the budget???? :(
Yeh I know they are, just remembered what they were called. They look amazeballs
Id want a roof for that money! What is the budget Grant?
I dunno. Lol. It's a future project so could be a bigger budget if I have more money.
The aim is to get something that can have an engine thrown in and
Drive it

But for some reason I want a green one. I have no idea why!
Brett on here was selling an mx5 a while ago for £50 wish I had bought it!
what about an RX8!!!? blown engine 1 from ebay ...circa £500.00 ! get em now whilst prices low...chassis can take that power ! Clives does....that would be awesome! custom engine mounts thats it ?????
serious bud ! if i had 400hp engine thats where id be sticking it...so obvious staring us in the face!
I know! It's just the weight as wants something small and light, don't need silly power then to make it a quick drag car:) the rx8 electronics seem tricky too as would have to run 2 systems. One for the car and it's gizmos and the standalone
Ecu
Just ebayd rx8 under 600, so many available!
just makes sense!!!!! 4 or 5 coming through salvage every week unrecorded .....
I would need a 3.9 diff with a turbo motor as the standard diff is a bit too short for turbo power. IMO. Great for NA though
;D strip it out, coilovers sticky rubber leave your BP for dead!
I know! Wonder how light they can go with a cage in?
thats easily sorted after install. That mx5 i done he had a cwp made.
Why? What ratio was he after? Racing beat have a few available
dunno if Clive weighbridged his? should be about the same.....
3000 lbs standard think 2,500lbs would be a good guess

cant remember think 4.7... geared for acceleration.
I'm sure RB do up too a 5.1
Nah they don't just checked. Defo do for rx's
your engine mounts on centre iron?
Yup. Same as rx8 aren't they?
no mine are on housings ..like a wishbone.....would not be a prob. should fit sweet.
Roughly same position from what I can make out. Some nice little simple mounts easy to make
dont need the gizmos...strip it right out cheap acewell digi dash. power steering is standalone. really doable on a budget mainly unbolting and making a pile of bits
All the stuff under the dash must weigh a lot, all the AC and heating gubbins

On my must do list,
I must admit I towed the RX-4 on my trailer a few weeks ago and it felt heavier than the Race car :-[
pcm does everything...windows stereo ac central locking etc but it can stay wires dont weigh much. just unbolt. i know the drawings well !!!!!
right ! you reckon rx8 then? :P :-\ :-X 8) :D

local scrap yard should be able todo...like when you wiegh in a car....
I thought the thread would go a bit more like this :D
Here is a picture of my first car which I tried to learn to drive in when I was 11 or 12 ------------------didn't go too well on the first attempt.
I managed to drive it into the woods at the back of my home and on the first straight it wobbled about -------------and fell over-------------I then found it had plate glass windows----------------it was obviously far too fast for me ;) ;) and maybe still is !!
What is it? Ford prefect?
Rx8 is a great choice. Cheap as hell. No brakes to upgrade, no diff to upgrade. Might just fit in my garage too
Jon, its not worth much, if I take it to a scarp yard they may never let it leave ::)
Thats pretty bad.....i did own this in a moment of madness.... :))

Bet I could make that fall over ;D
I could squash that car with my arm pit
It was a Brabus 1... but OMG awful thing. i drove it far too quick for what it was. i remember my wife doubled up laughing when i brought it home!
Surprised she didn't question your sexuality
i bought it after i crashed this.....summit to slow me down.....
Evo nice
i took it up the pub and we got 6.5 blokes init...smartcar that is!
6.5?? You use a midget?
2nd best road car after my fd....hit black ice got written off....young un foolish bought with bank loan never again!
another big foolish loan! but no regrets! (http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u397/boosted38/camera5jan08006.jpg)
Lol
(http://i1065.photobucket.com/albums/u397/boosted38/rx7002.jpg) this was the best drivers car of the lot scoobys evo skylines, just wake up sunday morning and go for a drive just for the feeling it gave you.
Wait, what??? RX4 weights how much??? ???
I believe that you can get rx8 to weight around 1100kg quite easily. However, it needs mods so dunno if its road leagal then anymore ;) And if you want it to weight less than that, you need to mod it hard... ;)
I want to swap renesis on to e36 325 beemer. Why? Easy to get, cheap parts, lots of upgrades available and so on. And its a good car, great handling...
That yellow kit car looked nice. And that evo and skyline too ;)
Told my dad that rx8s can be picked up for less than £600 and he agreed that an rx8 is by far the best idea, no need to do anything except drop the engine in. I could probably even use an rx8 gear box too so I don't have to get a new prop shaft!
Only technical bits is getting the brakes and steering to work without the ecu
Result.
Yup. Just need a bigger garage at mine as think 8 is too wide too access in and out of car
Just throwing this out there but my first ever car was a 1275 mini. Always wanted another mini and have always wanted to put a rotor in one
Is there enough room for rotary engine? Would be awesome though... :P
Theres a few on youtube........
At the risk of some ridicule at the "period clothing" :-[ :) This was my first car: 850cc Austin Mini. But what year was the photo taken?
The picture was taken after some quick repairs following a slight bump into the rear of another car - those drum brakes were awful :(
Bring back any memories for the "more mature" generation on the forum ;)

Flares?? Gota be 70s
Maybe 60s
I´m not going to say anything about those clothes... ;)
Nice pic though :)
1690?
Excellent picture Malcolm, only problem is, its made me remember I had flares like those--------------------and the hair ???
Oh dear, roll on the gratuitous pictures of everyone wearing flares in front of their cars. Lol
I was about 25 years old when me and bro found picture of our dad posing with his VW Beetle. Flares, curly long hair, massive sideburns... After that, dad has not said anything about me and bros hair style or my beard :D Freakin hippy!
Here we go, "HAIR" or should I say "hair we go"
First Race Car at the first race as a 16 year old in a Ford Anglia 105E (top right) the others are a couple of years later
Nice one Clive - gotta love the hairdo's back in the day :) :)
Re the date the pic was taken of my Mini - it was 1976 8)
