Title: Losing Water coolant after 5-6 drives.
Post by: YAU730 on July 11, 2015, 01:04:41 AM
To my understanding coolant will be in the 3 areas, 1, 2 and 3 as highlighted in my picture?

part 1 always seems to run dry causing the dash coolant light to flash red so i top it up with just water till max but after 5-6 drives it will go near dry again n needs topped up were part 2-3 will be steady.

Is there something up with my car or is that just the way it works?

Hi mate.

from my understanding number 1 is overflow and pushes out excess water into it and pulls water in under vacuum when reqd.

sounds like 1 either this has a small leak as just plastic and poss faulty level switch in 2. If 2 and 3 are staying bang on then looks ok to me.

coolant switch common failure.

You will find that you need only to fill via number 2 and 1& 3,will find their own level

If you just fill every thing up it will keep blowing water out

Hope this helps

check your ast cap... mine was not a pressure cap and was causing that to happen ( can also happen if pressure cap fails)
