Evening,
Really hope someone can help.
My car has been sat for a few months and last weekend found the battery had gone flat so needed a new one. Purchased a battery today only to find that none of the instrument lights would come on and the car isn't starting(can hear a few clicks). I have noticed that the immobiliser light is constantly on but still would have thought the instrument lights would display. Can a immobiliser cause this or likely to be something else?
Appreciate any advice.
Rich
Real tough to answer , but when you say immobiliser has it full alarm system and is it arming and disarming as some will then activate the dash and let the car start
Failing this start looking for a dirty connection with the starter lead being the first to look at
Hi Clive,
Appreciate the reply.
Although the fob Is flashing when I push the button, it doesn't seem to do anything so I'm unsure if the system is armed or not. I guess because there are no lights on the dash then it must be armed however I'd expect the alarm to sound? Do you know what powers the alarm and is this something I can disconnect? I'll also look for dirty connections in the meantime.
Thanks
Rich
What make of alarm? And have tried arm/ disarm with key in position 2?
Hi,
The fob suggests it's a 'laserline' although can't see much more than that. I've not tried to arm/disarm in position 2, will give it a go.
Thanks
Richard
Most alarms as clive says the immobiler cuts the ignition feed which means your dash lights dont work...not had any dealings with laser had plenty experience on a blimin clifford system that went south!
Hello.
Starting to think its the immobiliser then and I might need to get an expert on it.
Cheers
Richard
I done a quick google on laser alarm and there a pdf you can download with checks...the flashy light will tell you whats wrong by number of flashes. 10 flashes pause 10 again. Alarm back up battery etc. Worth a google.
Have got another remote ? Any instructions as there should be an overide pin in the alarm documentation....could simply be remote has lost coding with alarm module.
Unfortunately I didn't get another fob and no documentation with it either. Might be a good time to get a new system! Thanks for your help on this
No worrys. Try a new battery in remote though a cr2032 worth a shot.
Quick update on this.
Turns out the immobilizer was faulty, all sorted now.
