Title: Fuel controller?
Post by: Brett on August 10, 2004, 01:35:03 PM
Should a car imported from japan have a new fuel map?

I posted this in general but never got a response.

I\'m looking at an FD, if it hasnt got one should I knock the dealer down in ££££\'s?

Thanks

as in for having crapper fuel in the UK i presume you mean....?
Not usually something which is done & dont recall too much talk of them blowing up in standard guise souly kuz of rank fuel....BUT wouldn\'t advise using the poo stuff & most folks will only use the good stuff AKA optimax & i suppose the BP stuff at a push & personally i stick a bit of Octane booster in for good measure as well.......
ECU is usually a cunning plan if doing mods anyway so is then or can/should be remapped accordingly anyway......
But er no not sumin you\'ll have much joy getting a discount for i believe as i say not sumin i can ever recall talk of usually......But maybe worth writing to the govt asking if they can make it law to have 100ron fuel or sumin i wouldn\'t mind paying more tax on that

Cheers Si,

I dont intend to run on 95, but was just a little curious as to wether or not it was needed on a standard car.

Ta!

Well ECU is usually pretty near top of the wish list for the cars anyway especially when the modifying starts but no not an essential when they are imported in standard form....But that\'s not to say it\'s not a cunning plan....
Si (answering no questions with his if\'s & buts ;) lol)

I\'m taking it for a test drive tonite!  My first rx7 fix since I got here! I\'m going to creatively circumvent the standard 35mph speed limit over here by thrashing it around my factory car park :cool
