Title: Crack on block
Post by: Carrington on January 11, 2015, 05:07:04 PM
Hi All,

I was wondering if anybody has seen a crack on the bottom of their block radiating from one of the passenger side engine mount holes? I seem to have a problem with oil leaking from this point on my 1992 FD3s 13b engine and no matter how many times i try i just cant get it to seal and so after a good inspection last time i noticed a hair line crack from one of the bolt holes. Planning on trying again in a few weeks but this time with ultra black.

Thanks for any input.

Danny

I can only think a wrong length bolt has been put in at some time and split the back plate.

Good news is I would say you have a good chance of sealing it up because it has not got any pressure behind it.

Yep thanks for that. As Clive pointed out its in low pressure area and so im going to stop drill the crack and seal it with some thing strong like epoxy glue to make sure it holds the engine mount torque. Im in the process of taking the engine out at the moment and so I'll put up some pictures of the crack when its out and what I do to it so people in future can sue this as reference.

Thanks
