Title: Fuel controller thingy...
Post by: Brett on August 09, 2004, 08:42:33 AM
Should all cars imported from nippon have one of those aftermarket fuel computer wossnames?  I\'m off to look at a rex on Friday, should it have one?  If theres no sign should I walk away?  (I\'m assuming it should as the Japs run higher octane)

Ta.

it depends on what you mean to be honest

if you mean the SAFC - then they DONT need one ( esp. if you have have an apexi fitted )

if its got an aftermarket ECU then that would satisfy me :)

I thought the Power FC was an after market ECU?

Excatly how wrong am I?  Have I been grasping at the wrong end of the stick again?

Power FC is an aftermarket ECU.

SAFC is just a fuel controller

I think.

all the usual suspects will do PFC mapping. you can take your pick really.

1 - the apexi is an ECU
2 - the commander - this is a plug on addition to the ECU that lets you see what is going on ( air temps / boost etc.. )
3 - the S-AFC - is a air / fuel computer - it runs along side the standard ecu and lets you change the fuel/air mixture at every 500rpm of the rev range - stops you running lean

i thing the ECU is prefered on the 3rd gen and a lot of peeps in the states run the S-AFC on the TII

i hope this helps ( and i hope its right !!! :) )
