Title: \'94 type R
Post by: Brett on August 09, 2004, 08:32:12 AM
Can you chaps give me a run down on the spec?  Have seen one for sale at my local garage (I\'m now living on Guernsey so i\'ll ship it back to the UK) it has a Trust exhaust and 38k on the clock, he wants £9k for it.  Good or Bad?

 Thanks in advance!

check out the model guide in the purchasing tips section for details of the cars spec etc & price wise i\'m no expert so take with a pinch of salt but sounds vaguely right although never any guarantees on potential rebuild thing.... As they say the devils in the detail & could make all the difference in terms of condition as to how gooda value it is....:D

Well hes promised me 6 moths warranty, its got a FSH too right from Japan.  I\'ll get a rebuild warranty out of him (Bluchip) or I\'m afraid I might have to leave him hanging by his nnuts from a lamp post.... :rollin

Ta for the info Si, I knew I\'d seen it just could\'nt recal where I\'d seen it!

Seems like a fair price matey. Only thing to be wary of is the mileage. Not so much now, rather what it\'ll be in a year.

I\'ll try to explain! Say you average 10k miles a year, that engine (should) be good for at least a year, it\'s after 50k miles you might have problems...meaning even if you get a 1 year warranty, it might work out badly from a timing perspective! Probably just me being paranoid though! :)

\'94 model would be the 2nd version of the 3rd gen (not as confusing as it sounds!), 255bhp as standard, revised suspension and a few interior changes like the centre ash tray was replaced with a little cubby hole and an arm rest. Think there were a few other minor changes (fog light colour?) and possibly uprated strut braces but i can\'t really remember!

Good luck dude!

I\'m not too fussed about mileage, I\'m gonna send it back to the UK to use as my \'UK\' car.  I\'ll be doing less than 3k a year in it.  I have my 2nd Gen EGi for doing loads of miles in.

I\'m gonna have to check that its just a CAT back exhaust though, if not then theres a chance of it being run lean? yes/no?

This is the info I\'ve got so far, am going for a test drive on Friday (Around Guernsey, so I can break the speed limit in 1st!!!)

Quote from Bluchip imports:-

 "Hi Brett,

It\'s a 1994, Type R (top of the range), 300bhp.

Totally standard, bar the £850 Trust exhaust.

It has 38,000miles, fully serviced, tax for
6 months / 3 month warranty, black and silver
plates. Air-con, Electric everything, Alloys,
5 speed, new JVC stereo installed.

Your right, we\'ve had it a while, but my fellow
director likes it so much he\'s not fussed if it doesn\'t
sell ! He drives it once a month i guess, likes
to do a spot of posing in it !
But in saying that / putting my neck on the
line it does need to be sold, so we are open to
offers on it.

Give me a call on 07781 XXXXXX sometime and i
can arrange to meet you down at the yard and let
you take it for a testdrive. You need to be over
23 years old to drive on our insurance + no-one
will insure you if you are under 23 - how old are you ?

It\'s in very good condition - i\'ll tell you more
about it when we meet up.

Cheers

Jamie Lowe

Director"

 I know he\'s B*llshitting about the 300bhp.
