So I bought the car on eBay without checking it just thought it looked good and for the money it\'s gotta be worth a shot. Just finished work had 10 mins to check it out before I had to go out the wife said it was a shed on the phone. I gave it a quick look over and when I came in she said the last time she seen me smile like that was when the kids where born. Its fbukin awesome not much rust and not bad rust where it is. The interior is near perfect. I\'ll give it a few hours goin over later and see if I\'m in the same mood. But if it ran id be drivin it now they look so cool.:Giggle
Great stuff. Good to hear
Sweet! Gotta scratch my fb itch 1day....i had to sit on hands not to bid on it!
Get some piccy up mate pls.
Can\'t wait to see the pictures after this most excellent news, looks like another Gen 1 is going to a really good home :D
The wife said I can buy it as that\'s the year she was born. Didn\'t take much convincing, just checking vin numbers looks like it was built in 83 but not registered til 85, just turned the engine by hand oil looks good rads still full but I think I\'ll do a service before I try to start it but I\'m itchin to get the battery hooked up just to check the electrics and play about. Thinking of sorting the rust issues then maybe a full wrap instead of paint nothing laity maybe a matt finish
Only really come across this late registration thing with Gen 1\'s.
Even though Gen 1\'s really finished on a C reg, there are a few out there that are on D registrations, I know that one was because a woman walked into a Mazda dealership and found only Gen 2\'s, didn\'t want the different shaped car so Mazda imported a Gen 1 for her.
There is even a J reg UK car out there because a Mazda dealer tucked one away and brought it back out in 1991 and registered it up as a new car!
You may well find it fires up fine and is usable straight away.
My RX-4 stood for 26 years and after firing it up I did 10,000 on it before deciding to pull it apart while I could still get the parts just for a check and refresh.
Wow that\'s a long time for a rotary to sit. This one has been three years so off to buy a battery today and see what happens still waiting for my manual to arrive as there\'s a few plugs just dangling in the engine bay just on front of the passenger fire wall/ arch. If this things fires up just need to get the front window out and re fitted properly and I\'ll be out after a fluids change
suns shining!
Where are these pics....please!
Item number on eBay with pics until I master the art of posting

Who\'s best to insure these with I\'m with Adrian flux for the fd,limited mileage policy around £600 a year I think nothing really declared apart from bumper change lol
Rob
Hi Rob,
Welcome to 1st gen ownership :) you definitely need to get some pics up soon!!
As for the insurance I went onto moneysupermarket and got fully comp on limited miles for £120 a year, thats with "Flux insurance" not to be confused with Adrian Flux...
I\'d say its definitely worth doing before speaking to Adrian flux, that way your armed with a good price to aim for :)
Rich
Nice on for that price there\'s no reason not to have a little daily driver. Checked the engine bay out before I tried to start it seems like I\'m missing a handful of relays up bu the dizzy, give it a little turn with the key sounds free and quite smooth but can\'t confirm a runner til I get these relays on and my manual arrives, about 95% of the electrics seem to be working including the cool digital clock:Thumbs-up
Were can I get my hands on some relays as missing about four out of the five there alone
Cheers
Rob
Lol £119 with no no claims as I\'m using them on my fd. Talk about bargin
So I\'ve finished work early to have a little play with the car, I\'ve noticed I have no fuel check valve on the return pipe and the return pipe doesn\'t go anywhere just had a bolt shoved up it arse. I can\'t even see where the pipe connects in the engine bay to return back to tank. So engine flooded or almost drowned should I say so plugs are out giving it a few cranks gonna burn off the plugs and try again with the return pipe just into a container until I can see where it goes.
Fingers crossed for a start tonight and wife is gonna sort pics of car :2eek not her
Rob
good luck... fingers crossed!
Awaiting next update.......:)
Kids in bed off back to see if we can get a bit of noise for the neighbours:Grrr
Just been and put the plugs back in checked for spark before I did and I have a nice strong spark even though I can see a little short sometimes, turned the engine over but nothing doing pulled one plug back out and it\'s soaked in petrol and I haven\'t even re connected the fuel pump, I\'ve not had a flooded engine before so how many cranks should I be doing with all the plugs out I can still see vapour coming out when I crank but scared of running her dry if that\'s a concern I\'m not to sure. Someone suggested a little oil in the carb if remember a while back?
Still working on drying her out ill go at it til the battery dies then charge it up for tomorrows fun night, was hoping to keep it totally stock but finding parts are hard to come by so think I\'m going to replace the fuel lines with something a little more colourful and a nice shiny check valve.
So online shopping in bed tonight I can already hear the wife\'s head shaking from outside
If the fuel return line is blocked with a bolt, would that not make it flood? It should connect next to the other fuel hose. Get some more pics up :Thumbs-up
Well she has the best of me tonight still wetter than my bathroom floor on bath night,
The return should go to the other fuel pipe but it doesn\'t seem to have one lol, I\'ve ordered some shiny fuel lines and check valve gonna get the front up on jacks tomorrow and see if I can find this return line and carry on drying her out. Hoping to change the thread title to "listen to her purr" but we will just have to wait and see how the week pans out.
Wheeler dealers on so brew and chill:Thumbs-up
Maybe this picture might assist? I\'m 90% certain the hose with the green tape marker is the one where the fuel return should be connected. The pic is of a tank from my \'83 FB.
Click on the image to enlarge.
Here\'s the corresponding pic of the hard fuel lines, with the fuel pump removed. Again the green tape is in the return line.
Right I\'ve had another early dart from work so up she goes and lets look for these pipes, thanks for the pics ill have them with me under there.
Hoping new fuel lines arrive tomorrow and will defo get the wife to sort pics out promise.
:mad:Well hurricane Herbert has landed in my garden no sooner had I taken the cover off the heavens opens and the bonnet started blowing in the wind so now the cars in my hands she ain\'t seeing a spot of rain til the rust is sorted, been waiting for my planning permission for my garage for what seems like forever may just start digging footings and hope it comes soon, gonna have a brew and flick through the manual and online for bits and ideas.
New length of fuel line and check valve arrived today and weather looks good. Gonna try skip outta work handy to see if I can find this return line under the car somewhere and carry out bailing the engine out as still seems quite flooded.
The front window needs addressing as bit of rust up the pillars but really don\'t wanna take it off with just a car cover for protection
Found the elusive fuel line looks like some one change the fuel filter as the plate isn\'t secured back on and the return line has been removed all the way back to the tank so looks like I\'m going to have to buy some hard mile and get bending. Has anyone upgraded their lines with anything
Cheers
Rob
