Title: Gear box
Post by: mrfitz on August 08, 2004, 10:38:29 PM
Now I have removed the engine ready for a rebuild, is there anything I can do to the gearbox in terms of inspection or recon?  I\'m only asking as I have never started the car as I bought it already blown so I don\'t know the condition.

Should anything go wrong in the future, can the gearbox be removed without having to take the engine out?  (Or am I being a retard)?

Thanks,

Mark.

You can swap the box without taking the engine our no worries...

Thanks Rich,

Is it worth leaving it as it is although I have never tested it, or do you recommend checking it out now?

Mark.

I only know a few people who\'ve \'killed\' them (inc. Geff and he doesnt really count :)), I think they\'re pretty hardy...

5th synchro is a common problem but its just a bit annoying rather than time to replace it...

OK,

Thanks Rich, I\'ll leave it alone then.  Spend money elsewhere!
