Hi all,
Regrettably, I\'m attempting to cut my losses at this point and see if I can sell the motor as it is - I\'m bored with having it and not being able to drive it and frankly I could use the money. I can have this car transported anywhere in the country (and probably beyond) at extremely reasonable rates so don\'t let the fact you can\'t drive it put you off!
I\'ve built this car with many custom parts over the last 6 months and it looks stunning. It\'s had the best bits of 2 cars put into it. The shell and interior are 1992 Special Edition import, the engine and transmission are from a UK car.
The shell is mint; absolutely, totally and completely mint. It had one rust bubble on one arch which has been repaired professionally (ie welded up not bodged). The bonnet, skirts and bumper are off a white UK car and have been professionally resprayed last month at great cost, the arches were sprayed at the same time. The roof is waterproof! The suspension is all brand new and arms are polybushed, the differential is a limited slip unit. The interior has all sorts of rare and exciting bits including uncut doorcards (no speaker holes) in tan leather, matching tan seats with headrest speakers and some really trick JDM gadgets (listed below!).
95% of the parts listed on the spec list below are brand new. Anything JDM is genuine. All work has been carried out professionally at DAL Performance in Kent - Dal\'s attention to detail is superb. The entire dashboard has been removed and critical joints resoldered, wiring for interior bits all properly done. The car looks insane sitting on the brand new coilovers with the brand new wide arches and the brand new wheels!
Engine - the good bit: Turbo is mint, injectors have been cleaned and tested, manifold has been replaced with a crack free item and the bolt off bits have all been taken off and had the gaskets replaced with OEM (or OEM spec) items from Atkins Rotary.
The bad bit: The engine has around 90,000 miles on it and was rebuilt at around 70,000 (by Rototechnic at a cost of around £3500). Basically, we can\'t get it to work. It fired and ran absolutely fine when I bought the white car, it has also run perfectly after being put in the black one, now when you attempt to fire it, it floods. We initially put this down to compression but when tested the compression is around 100psi which, although not perfect, should be fine to start and drive the car. After that, we tried to see if there was an injector stuck open so they were sent off to Sumo to be tested and cleaned, unfortunately (sort of) the injectors are absolutely spot on so it isn\'t that, we\'ve also tried different fuel pumps & ECU\'s - nothing. Really, it needs to go to a Rotary specialist to be looked at by someone who knows Rotaries inside out - it may well be an easy fix, we just don\'t know. Realistically, a different engine would probably be in the region of £500 or the car would make a fantastic base for a conversion perhaps a V8?
I know this is going to get a weak response owing to the fact the engine isn\'t working but I\'ve got to try, I really haven\'t got the time to break this car.
The build up is here: clicky click (http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=81497)
Here\'s the spec - I know for a fact that bits are missing off of this but I think the important stuff is all there!

I have absolutely nothing to hide with this car - the shell doesn\'t have a great deal of history but the white car did have quite a bit engine new roof etc, the shell is HPI clear. The vehicle is absolutely mint cosmetically. Any inspection is welcome and encouraged. I can arrange viewings for evenings with enough notice but weekends are ideal. The car is located in Gravesend in Kent.
As for price - well, I probably have to state a price to comply with rules so I\'m going to say £4000 ono but really that means I have no idea what it\'s worth in this state so please make me an offer, don\'t be shy - if you\'re looking for a clean shell with all the bits you\'d ever want (minus an engine!) then you\'re in the right place you won\'t do better.
if your omp is faulty it sends a signal to the ECU and shuts down the engine I have heard
BlitzBoy, that\'s certainly an interesting tidbit, thank you. I\'ll google procedures for testing that and pull it back into the workshop. I\'m certainly not thrilled at the prospect of selling this car for much less than what I believe it to be worth!
ah man thats a right bag of dicks..... wanna swap it for a well spec\'d stage 1 s14a with long mot and tax?
Send me some info/pics please dude, I\'ll have a look.
I´m sorry to hear that :( I really like that car
you come this far mate aint it worth getting to a specialist for some fault finding gotta be worth a few hours labour. is it sparking?
Thanks guys. Yes, it\'s sparking; any bright ideas? :)
Heres a run down on my 14a
the car has loads of mot 10 months i think, has some tax... 4 or 5 months? 185k on it but sr runs great.

Hopefully you can get it sorted dude but if not my offer is on the table.
Good luck!
I\'m going to have a crack at the OMP this week but if that doesn\'t work I\'d be into that, sure.
Yeah dude bound to be something like that.
hey dude, just thought of a couple of questions. did you fit new discs and pads and do the caliper seals or are they from one or other of the cars as you got them? wondering if they have been stood up for ages or fresh, main worry for mot.
is there any rust at all or has there been any previous repairs underneath?
with that rad/cooler set up, where is the rad cap/filler neck? is it below the water level in the engine or did you extend it up? any problems with air locks at all?
do you think there might be any other potential problems for getting it through a ticket?
cheers man :D
I\'m hoping that shortly it\'ll be fixed, just need a new OMP and ecu now. When it\'s fixed I\'m afraid the price will be going up.
This was discovered today

In answer to your questions however: the brakes have been completely refurbished with new everything, handbrake has been off while it\'s stood also. Aside from the repair on the rear arch which is detailed in the project thread linked above there is no rust on the car. There was some bubbling on a cross brace thing in the front of the engine bay but that was relocated as part of the v-mount conversion and as such was repaired at the time. It is completely mint underneath.
The radiator has been chopped and tig\'d back up, again this is detailed on the project thread, there are no air lock issues that we\'re aware of at this point.
The car will be fixed before a sale takes place now, at the point the car is for sale fully repaired I\'ll be asking in the region of £5000 and the car will be supplied with a legitimate MOT for the new buyer. Tax may well be obsolete at this point but I\'ll cross that bridge when I come to it.
..Assuming the OMP fixes the issue, if it doesn\'t then we\'re back on Shifty. Still working on those pics you asked for bear with me.
The only issue with the car aside from the current running problem is that it\'s loud, I don\'t know if a car can fail an MOT for being loud but be advised it is ludicrous. I\'m talking shatter glass, burst ear drums, sonic boom loud.
Cool, if you do fix it do yourself a favour, drive it for a bit. Be rude not to lol.
I bloody well intend to, too much pain in the arse in it not to scare a few old ladies n tear up the streets for a bit!!
Word on the street is this car is running... more later!
superb news :)
It\'s not fixed. Still for sale a whole, assume engine knackered.
Obviously not got much interest at all so I\'m probably going to end up breaking it. I\'ll get a price list up over the next few days.
Sigh :(
Your in London dude most of us drive hundreds of miles down to see a specialist near you, it\'s got to be worth a specialist look over rather than you lose a fortune
have you done a compression test yet mate ??
I literally cannot afford any further work to this car; I can\'t afford to transport it to a specialist, I can\'t afford to have them look at it even for a day - I\'ve got to cut my losses on this project it\'s just a money pit for me.
If someone\'s got a spare engine lying around waiting to fit to it then as far as I\'m concerned it\'s bargain of the century for them, I\'m still more than prepared to sell it as a whole or swap it - I\'d prefer to do either of those things than break it but I need to start recouping some money so if nobody wants it as a whole within the next week or so I\'m going to start taking bits off.
Here\'s a few new photos of the underside and the interior. FYI for anyone who\'s interested in taking this car, I also have the most part of another FC you can take as well. Have the lot, never want to see another RX7 as long as I live!
