Title: Brakes, my opinion
Post by: mikey-t on September 04, 2014, 08:26:09 AM
Right bear with me on this one as I know the pros and cons just saying this is potentially worth watching.

All these track day warriors go out and spend let\'s say £1500 on a big brake kit add dot5 fluid and a big brake servo and maybe even a pedal box and you are easily hitting 2g plus for maybe a 20mm diameter increase and a extra piston,

Great performance increase but you are then tied into brand specific pads and rotors that let\'s be honest do not last.

Now a magazine I read has just reported on these,
Full carbon brakes , not carbon ceramic CARBON.
Once the territory of formula one only looks like they are becoming available.
At the moment they are not for lotus bed cars so te Elise exige etc but that\'s soon set to change

And the full carbon front package is £2000 I think that is a bargain.

There will be NO fade, awesome performance and the discs and pads should last substantially longer then steel.

Yes they need heat to operate fully but a fairly heavy rx7 on track day duty should provide the operating temps.
I can see these putting some stress through the driveline but still I think this is the future of track day weapons.

Just interested in your opinions in this
