Title: RE~ building front end
Post by: exiled-viking on July 17, 2014, 08:44:14 PM
so got to grips with cutting out the front end slam panel today, need to make  some brackets for the new panel to fit in, and you do not have to take the wings off.

but you do need a spot weld drill bit as there are over 50 spot welds to drill out:

(http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r616/exiledviking1/BODY%20KIT/IMG_2251.jpg) front end needs a good dig out clean and repaint

(http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r616/exiledviking1/BODY%20KIT/IMG_2246.jpg) whats left of the slam panel

(http://i1174.photobucket.com/albums/r616/exiledviking1/BODY%20KIT/IMG_2242.jpg) the damage from the accident was a little worse than i thought

So today replace the front Slam panel and its bits, flushed out the intercoolers for the supercharger, new S/C water pump replaced, coolant for supercharger replaced. lined up the wing panels ready for front light fitting next week.

So Not replacing the lower plastic engine bay protection tray its way to flimsy, so set to making my own about half way it needs to be firm to mount two small air ducts and there fan intake motor,s and the hideaway number plate this will be sprayed mat black when done, the front vents when mounted will be removable to gain access to fog and driving lamps.

its along way from being finished and the vents are only on for show i have not decided yet on the end location

been a hard at it today

yes it not a lot per hour but its nice to think I am not just doing it for love:rollin:rollin

A few shots of todays work

Up Date on the Under tray, cut the panels out to fit in the grills, the front two panels cut out are access the fog/driving lights and hideaway number plate, also to cheek oil cooler lines, its all together now awaiting black paint tomorrow also put in a little air deflector to push air up on to the supercharger intercoolers and radiator.

bit of fab work on the air deflector

thanks guys, last up date :Talking1 all painted up now and then fitted fits like a glove all 8 fastening holes lined up first time infact it took more effort to get the old plastic under tray out, this aluminium one is a lot better and only took about 8 mins to fit well pleased with my hand built mod.

front bumper now done aluminium scuff plates made to protect the under side of the bumper made them into Canards and will have them dipped in a carbon fibre effect all holes drilled for cameras, speed detectors, water jets for the head lights, and side vents finished these also will be carbon fibre dipped the centre half plate is to accommodate the hideaway number plate.

I decided to put the scuff/canards/plates on as the car is low and we have some rather large speed bumps where we live and to strengthen the lower part of the bumper.

First of all i must apologise to all club members that the removal of some or all of my photos have been deleted this was not intentional but i have amalgamated my three photo bucket accounts this has effected the forums on all club sites and has deleted the photos from all clubs. sorry again.

I will post some photos back up on this thread and on my engine build thread if any member would like to see more then i am now running most of the new build on Facebook

I am in no way not supportive of this club and this act was not to become as was said in another club to be a Troll. And would never bring the club into disrepute.

Any way i am only a member of MRC now and will give 100% to the club and its members sorry if this has inconvenienced any member.

The Reasons for not being around this year is the car has been off the road, due to an accident , i know that this dose not stop me attending the clubs functions but i also have been battling a very aggressive bout of cancer, with all this happening it might seem that i have been unintentionally off with some people/members and theres no excuse for this so if your one of these i am sorry.

I hope to be around next year to a few shows  i do not want to talk much about the above just to say those already in the know is to say thank you for your support and thank you to clive and Lisa for helping me out .
