Title: oil pressure switch operation.
Post by: leeroy_25 on June 28, 2014, 07:02:21 PM
Guys, does the FD oil pressure switch need to be earthed through the engine to work or is it working from power being fed to itonly ask As I have fitted mine via a sandwich plate so want to make sure it will still work okay.

It\'s not a switch, it\'s a sensor. And yes, it needs to be earthed through the body.

What is the chances running it off a sandwich plate would stop it earthing properly and stop is working?

Shouldn\'t be a problem if the sensor is screwed in, metal to metal, but if PTFE tape was used to provide a better seal, then there is a slim chance this might not have been cut through and the sensor is isolated from ground.

Get a multimeter on ohms setting (or continuity tester) and check sensor body to ground continuity on the chassis somewhere.
