Relocating my battery to the boot. Want to know if 110amp cable is enough? 16mm cross-section. Or should I get bigger?
Also any thoughts on a decent battery that is not too big?
Cheers

Should be perfect

I certainly don\'t agree - that\'s a potential fire hazard. The starter will most likely pull more than that. I use stuff rated to 240a with a breaker at 150.
Don\'t muck around and under spec cable for high current loads. Electrical fires aren\'t pretty.
240A? What thickness is that? Must be huge! so the 110 is about 8mm, and 170 I think is about 10mm? much thicker than that and it will be beast to run it through the car? Or did you run it under?
And do you mean you fused that with a 150amp fuse? I don\'t recall seeing any fuses that big on the car anywhere?
I know what your saying about starter loading but equally I don\'t want to go overboard!
A few more points of view maybe/People that have done this.

There is a great thread here about relocating the battery. http://www.ausrotary.com/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=31504&sid=88e1964fa0c3c8dc909d13c02c606286
It sounds pretty similar to how SiH went about doing it also. The guy on there also has a bunch of electrical threads and seems to know his stuff!:Thumbsup!
- Hope I didn\'t break any rules with the link? Whoops if it does!:p
when i done mine (fd).....went to scrap yard...pulled out of old bmw e36 long red cable from boot to engine bay. took the hold clamp as well....then went to merc e300 and took the earth cable....i used a cheap 063 battery but later upgraded to a 044. Scrappy man charged me £20.00.
Cheers guys... BMW cable is not a bad shout!
Sounds like this guy is recommending a 170amp cable? So a bit meatier.
Hadn\'t even considered a battery box! Anyone no a good place to get these other than fleebay?

i got my battery box from a caravan supplies shop.
The thread in the link says not to sue a caravan one? Maybe the AUS/US rules for a battery relocation are more strict?
Did any of you worry about venting the battery box to outside the car? None of the boxes I have seen seem very well sealed to be fair!
I haven\'t actually done this yet. But it is on my to do list! haha. I was planning on going with a sealed battery box and possibly an optima yellow top battery. Without venting it to the outside of the car
