Is it vitally important to match exhaust and inlet port sizing on a rotary (as on a 2-stroke) or is it a case of bigger is better for exhaust?..
I am looking at a "racing beat" template for a bridge-port inlet (either 12a or 13b running a single carb), but am not sure if I need a street-port or race-port for the exhaust. I dont want a totally wild engine, so Im guessing a street port is ample? (race exhaust-ports more suited for J-Ports and Circumf. inlets rather than bridges?)
Also, is exhaust design as critical for rotaries as it is for a 2-stoke? (back-pressures, etc) or is it slightly more open, as with a 4-stroke? Im guessing there is an element of both involved... ...I am going to have to build a 1-off exhaust system for this car, so will try to look at routings and things now, before I design and commit to too much of the structure, if I need to follow certain rules regards back-pressures and tube-lengths
thanks in advance
