Title: Ducting?
Post by: Ashp1989 on April 03, 2014, 03:12:02 PM
Hi. The car I\'m looking at buying has a Xs power intercooler on it. Been told by pip at wgt that if it\'s ducted in properly then they can be pretty ok. But what should I use? What have you guys used? And is it a fiddly job?

Thin aluminium is good, cut it with tin snips. Fold the edges and use rivets to fix it in, or nuts and bolts

You can fab up custom ducting with thin alloy plate. Basically mock up what you want in cardboard and then translate that into alloy sheet pieces and either get it welded or pop rivet it together. Only the front needs ducting cold air feed from front force it through cooling fins.

Google images intercooling ducting.

How does it stay in place on the intercooler? Obviously you don\'t bolt it to the intercooler? So how does it stay in place without moving? Cheers for the help

Fab up some brackets on ducting to utilise intercooler mount brackets etc couple of mounting points on different axis to support.slam panel etc. thats why cardboard good as you can stamp on it when it dont fit and start again!
