Title: Help!!!
Post by: Lindsey on March 31, 2014, 11:06:31 PM
I need some help I am trying to get my husbands car fixed for his 40th this year. But I know nothing about cars,
It\'s a rx7 t2, car starts but when it drops under 3,000 engine just cuts out.
Any help at all would be so gratefully received.
Thanks Lindsey :-)

Welcome to Mazdarotaryclub

Really need a bit more information to start trying to help , does the engine run just as it used to and sound ok or did this become a problem while it was being used or did this start happening after not being used for a long time ?

I don\'t know if this helps but my one used to do that as well. When the rev was above 3000rpm it just cut out on the way down. The car was standing for a year so when I started to use it again (after a full service) the issue stopped. Still don\'t know what has caused it.

Just to add in my case the engine was running and sounding great. The idle was spot on. I did a research back then and found a few people having the same issues after installing a lighter flywheel. And I have an extremely light one installed...

My husband brought this car on impulse, in a bankruptcy acution.
The car was collected by a friend of my husband on behalf of official receiver, and drove apox 5 miles to the garage where it was to be stored prior to the auction. He said the car started  and drove beautifully with no problems. By the time he went to pick the car up (after having the winning sealed bid) the battery was flat, car was out of fuel, and a person in the garage (who did not have the winning bid) said they tried jump and tow, starting it, and it\'s never ran properly after that. Not sure if they messed with the car as they wanted it. In the mean time we have moved and have had 4 children, so it\'s been in a dry garage for the last few years. As far as we know the car is all original, 75000 miles, alarm and immobiliser (Clifford)
I just don\'t know where to start, I don\'t want to take it to a garage and them fob  me off. And I am trying to do all this without him knowing. So hope all this makes sense.
Thanks Lindsey :-)

Hi Lindsey,

Long shot but Putts Motor Engineers may be able to help you. There based in Plymouth and are mobile mechanics. They race an RX7 so maybe able to help you with some diagnosis rather than going to a garage with little rotary knowledge. Number 07775 712020. Give them a call and see if they can help you .
