Title: vacuum system simplification question.
Post by: The dutchman on February 11, 2014, 05:46:41 PM
Hi guys,

Next week i am going to do the vacuum job.
My car: 93 touring. Stock ecu. Other then a other rear muffler all stock.

But i want to simplify my vacuum system.
Here in the netherlands i dont need emisions so why not cut some things away.

Now i have seen a few "simplifid diagrams.
But what can i cut without putting blockoff plates etc. because i dont have them. Dont want to go that far but maybe some things can be left away?

Thanks

Hi mate are you refering to intending todo a non sequential conversion?  Or air pump removal etc?

Sorry for not being clear.
I dont want to remove the pump or anything. And want to keep the sequential setup but i saw a few diagrams that containda few less vacuum hoses. And i was currious wich i can remove saftley.
just like the doublr throttle control vacuum hoses. Or do i need to completly remove the double throttle? Just an example.

Never been asked about simplified sequential before

A search brought this thread up and the diagram below

Hope this helps

Yes i saw that diagram Clive. But on this setup you would need some restrictors / blockoff plates etc.
And i was currious if some lines can be removed without the needing of de blockoff plates etc.

like for example the double throttle. I learnd that you dont have to put back the vacuum hose for it. It will stop working. And thats no problem.  I just want to install as less is possible for the twins to opperate without to much mods.
But i dont think that is gonna work.

Thing is if you go poking about in there you may disturb something and have boost control issues which is well documented as a nightmare to diagnose . If it aint broke dont fix it!
Wait til you have a problem then replace hoses or go non sequential. If a boost solenoid hose tail breaks car is outta action til you get a spare. the double throttle tail solenoid is broke but that is not effecting your car with the greatest respect id leave well alone!

Thanks for the info.
but i can replace them right? Just before it brakes some vacuum lines. Many are very hard. And i am gonna replace all the cooling lines in the same time. Also gonna give the grounding points a checkup. So everything is in reach then. So i wanted to replace all the vacuum lines.

I got some boost problems. So i am hoping the vacuum job will solve it.
but i will follow the standart vacuum setup. No cutting or whatever.

Watch then solenoid tails! Could try softening vac lines with a soldering iron heatgun to prevent snappage!
