Title: apexi electronics...mo\' money
Post by: scientist1968 on August 03, 2004, 09:30:43 PM
The apexi ECU seems to be a popular mod even for a mild upgrade on an rx7 (exhaust and filter).....couldn\'t you achieve the same results for less than half the price with the super AFC 11.

I\'ve seen these on e-bay for £200ish, should do a grand job of enriching the fuel mix at slightly higher boost ??
i guess they might be a more tricky install and might not cope with further mods.......but 300 horses would suit me (and my wallet)

Anyone had any experience with these.....??????

I thought of using this as well...seemed a cheaper option than a new ECU, so any advice welcome.....not planning any engine/performance mod\'s...currently decatted and straightthru pipe as it is (if that helps)...

Would a SAFC2 even work on a FD? They work by intercepting and modifying the signal from the AFM and the FD doesn\'t have one

Ok, I\'ve done a quick 1 minute bit of research, and they will work on FD\'s.

Apparently they work on either air flow sensor or pressure sensor type systems.

It only deals with fuelling, not timing though.

It also can\'t control boost, so you\'d need a boost controller.

Also, you\'d still need a FCD to stop boost cut.

It is piggy back and interrupts the ecu signal.

IMO you\'d be better of spending a little more and getting a more flexible option, such as the Power FC.

Or, tbh, add up the cost of boost controller, FCD and AFC and I\'m sure your well over Power FC money anyway!
