Title: rear axle stuck in hub
Post by: imebgo on January 28, 2014, 07:51:10 PM
Hi,

I have removed all bolts + braking componets from rear hub and the 35mm nut, but I can not get the axle out of the hub, the manual is suggesting it should slide out or at least take a knock with a hammer to remove.

I have used heat, a large hammer and a puller but its not budging - its obviously never been off in the 20 years of its life, but surely it cant be stuck permanently?

I would have thought the puller would have got it off, so I am now wondering if theres a mechanism still holding the axle in place thats missed in the service manual?

Thanks,
James

Once the nut is off there is nothing to stop it. They can rust in a bit.  Best solution is getting it under a press and get some decent pressure on it.
