Post by: dturpin on August 03, 2004, 04:02:47 PM
Would these down pipes fit a 1992 FD?

Where are you getting them from, they look like the ones my friend tommy at invo, wants me to check, they are for a FD, I am just checking the clearance for the steering, as they have really nice curve at the turbo end of the downpipe rather than the normal more 90 degree bend of most downpipes.

Ah Tommy at Invo..... Now there\'s someone that shouldnt be able to sell items. BAD MEMORY\'s and a new engine!!!

Looking at the picture the downpipe will not fit, as it sticks out too far.

This is for a left hand drive car, and has absolutaly no chance of fitting your car .

Hi, I have just had these exact pipes fitted to my FD, I got them from ebay in the US.  You will need to get the downpipe modded by a powerflow dealer so that it clears te steering columb. There are 2 ways of getting this to work one is to cut an oval section out of the downpipe with a plasma cutter and welding in half a smaller pipe tofill the oval. The second way is just to cut a V shape out of the pipe and weld in a couple of bits of flat stainless sheet.

This should take around 2 hours to complete unless your turbo bolts are seized to hell and snap then you are looking at a little more.

The mid pipe fits straight on without any mods.

Given that these pipes cost £50 for the pair its well worth paying £150 or so to have them fitted.
