A new thread for the 2014 rocket
Also I would like to make a massive thank you to Hayward rotary for all there support in this first and very experimental year.
In addition a Huge thanks to Bkoncepts for their sponsorship for the 2014 car.
Bkoncepts (NOLTE kitchens) have also offered a huge discount if you quote "drag car" when buying a new luxury German made kitchen or bedroom

All going well we should be hopefully ripping out the stock box and going for something a lot stonger and quicker and changing the engine.
Lot of changes has happened considering this time last year here she was......

Can\'t hang around . We need to be ready next year.
:driving
OMG that new hairdryer is BIG:Thumbsup!:Thumbsup!
This season should be great, I will be able to bring along my child to helpe push the car around and take pictures:):D how much lighter are those carbon bits
Well done on the sponsorship deal Liam that will obviously help tremendously
Good luck out there for next year :Thumbsup!
Thats a big turbo! :) Is that the same turbo that Carl has in his carage?
Well, good job :) Car looks awesome
We are still debating on what turbo to use. All good going huge but it will need to work too.
And grant I\'m sure any child could push it when we have finished the diet :)
Oh and yes if you have been to Carl\'s workshop then likely you would have seen the giant snail :)........one of many
That turbo is probably bigger than the motor! I guess the nitrous system is there to spool that beast on the line? Is it going to be around the minimum weight for the class?

I think we still wont be light enough for the class.
Still deciding which turbo we are going to use at the moment.
What\'s weights limit? 1048kg plus driver?
Was looking at wrong class rules!! There\'s not much difference from the 3 classes weight wise. Have to double check what street class weight is.
Awesome progress, should be a very good 2014 :D
Shaun
Liam, after august, how did your season go? Best times?
Yes, I thought that massive turbo is the one in Carl´s shop. That thing is massive :D

Best time was 10.4 and 140mph terminal
Was only running 1.2 bar with a stock box that wouldn\'t hit 3rd until rpm dropped .
Also poor launch because we didn\'t want to break the box.
Next year should be drag box with more power and less weight so my maths should say we will hit 9s in no time :)

Big big big big big :Giggle:flamed:burnout
Get the quick spool Tial housing for that turbo Liam and the 2rotor will work well with it. And a bit of gas;)
Well, 10,4 and 140 is impressive. :)
Umm, didnt take 3rd gear in high rpm??? Is that problem in every stock box?
Yeah, I bet next season you will open can of woopass ;)
What Liam means is he held it in 2nd gear and then to get to 3rd had to wait for rpm to drop, 3rd gear over the line rather than change to 4th gear to save some time, so that was 12,000 rpm.

We cant do amazing times still cos stock rear end. We will certainly improve over this year though.

The synchros don\'t like high rpm shifting. There are things you can do to help them work at high rpms. Such as polishing them, removing teeth etc
There are a couple of books on amazon that help to understand and teach how to rebuild a gear box to be stronger and higher spec
Straight cut gears and dog shift engagement make for quick changes.
Hopefully we\'ll will have that soon.

Rob runs a stock rear end with aftermarket 1.5 way diff in the 8s, I thought Liam was running a 1.5 or 2 way diff?
yep and in theory you should have a stronger rear end than robs too as you have willdays old axles right?
you\'ll break the diff casing before you actually break the diff itself!
Quote from: BlitzBoy;869961Rob runs a stock rear end with aftermarket 1.5 way diff in the 8s, I thought Liam was running a 1.5 or 2 way diff?
How deep into the 8s will it last though?
Rob didnt break anything rear related last year at all after several runs in the 8s, where things will break is the launch, if it survives the launch then I cant see why you couldnt run consistant mid 8s no problem
most aftermarket irs diffs do not survive long on the strip due to being installed incorrectly with correct lash and contact for crown and pinion not being set right.
my advice to you guys would be, get seat time, change small things at a time, get those right then move on or you will be forever chasing your tail, but hey, what do i know
hope to see you at the track next year running the numbers liam :)

*edit, to date, 1 driveshaft inner cup ;) no fancy axles or diff braces, just good susp and geometry, a couple of orings will be your savior on an irs car*

Oh, I see. :) 12.000rpm, holy ****... :)
At what rpm`s stock box wont take gears? Just wondering about my brothers box. We have talked about dogbox but dunno yet...

Are going to change hole rear end? Or just going to improve that old one?

We\'re not aiming to jump out there and smash into the 8s as thos would not be realistic but by the end of the year it would be nice.
