Title: Max power what FD3s turbos can get out
Post by: Dante on December 07, 2013, 08:01:11 PM
Hi,
I\'m starting to built the 13B-REW and my target is to get out something between 350-380bhp at the moment and I wanted to get out some advice from experienced guys from here to get a clear view how to get to the planed results, corectly.

As far as I\'ve went through the info, all the guys has changed the few things as: v-mount intercooler kit, electric boost controller and apex\'i Power FC managment, getting out 310-320bhp in the end. Could it be true that it\'s all what needs to be changed to get to 310bhp from standard 255?

I could sound silly with this thread but it\'s our first rotary to be built, that\'s why I wanted to get as much info as possible not to mess something..

Ok, let\'s start with oem turbos, the early models used to have. I\'ve heard that their safe boost is up to 0.9bar, right? And what\'s the max power they can handle?

Maybe someone could share some links or literature/advices which would be the better way to go to reach my target of 360-380bhp?

Thank You in advice,
Mike

I\'m on 315bhp and I have...FMIC, PowerFC, Twin Power, HKS Intakes, decat and 3" exhaust system (3-3.5" downpipe), uprated and direct wired fuel pump. Probably around 0.7-0.8 bar on stock twins, stock ports.

Used to run 360bhp using FMIC, PowerFC, Twin Power, Apexi Intakes, decat and 3" exhaust system (3-3.5" downpipe), upgraded leads, boost controller, uprated fuel pump, 1 bar on stock twins, stock ports...

but. stock turbo pack generally will not last long incresaing the boost.......hence Knighsports, BNR and other upgraded turbos. Go \'T04E\' for same experience less expense/hassle.

*similar cars achieved 380bhp with same setup.

A couple of people have kmade just over 400fly with big ported engines and over a BAR of boost, but yes the twin turbo packs did not last long.

360bhp is a realistic reliable figure with the right mods

Can\'t comment on how long the turbos last as I have only done about 2k at raised boost but I\'d expect to be somewhere in the 350-380hp range. Raised boost from the stock 0.68 bar transforms the fd in sequential form and I\'m very happy with the way my set up has turned out.

Stock engine -stock seq twins - AEM WI - 1.2bar. ----- Powergains

The AEM one was a great kit too and cheap IMO. An absolute must for anyone wanting 1bar+
