Title: New Engine Project
Post by: exiled-viking on November 12, 2013, 10:00:59 PM
ON THE HUNT for an engine the newer 2006 up-rated oil feed  must be a runner but can be with low compression for a round £600.00 for my new project build some club members/ friends  are already looking out for me i just after leads at the moment.

the project build is going to have some up-grades but is going into my car and going to be a daily driver instead of rebuilding my engine i am going to start fresh with some new up grades better internals, racing beat oil cooler kit, new clutch kit, a new build for around £6000.8000. Oh and with the rebuild supercharger.:Giggle:Giggle

will start a new build thread next year but looking forward to this.

You need an account to bid....but you can look at sales list at al depots around the country.....its 45 a year for member ship....2 forms of id and you can bid and buy....they even deliver for a few quid to your membership address.

Once an account holder you can view before bidding! you\'ll get a engine box and lots of spares before scraping rest on moderately hit 1 easy for £500.00  //www.copart.co.uk

Always best to view.......Over the years ive had loads of nice cars from the Westbury site including my Evo and FD.... and my coltie track car 125 quid about 4.5 years ago ....some idiot had prised door away at top to break in....alarm went off insurance company wrote it off it. I put my knee on frame and bent back 10 secs to repair....still makes me chuckle now.
most rx8s are goona be flooded as the staff wont know how to handle them. so will be listed as non start....even cheaper.

:TypingWell had a long talk with Clive today and I hope with fingers crossed that kerim is going to build my engine so the plan is going to be that I am going to buy two new rotor housings other parts supplied by kerim and a full internals kit from Clive with a heavier duty Apex seals and street port with some extra goodies to help it run smoothly still keeping the HKS ECU TOTAL REMAP

So the car will become one of a few in Europe to be a :-

231 STREET PORTED SUPERCHARGED TWIN ECU RX-8 for the ROAD :Hammer :cool

With

Walbro 255 fuel pump from MRP

Gloopy Apex seals from MRP

FULL INTERNALS  From  MRP

RECONDITION SUPERCHARGER by Kerim

Engine Housings from MRP

OTHER ENGINE Parts supplied by Kerim/MRP

New clutch from MRP

NEW OIL COOLER PIPES RACING BEAT From MRP

KOYO aluminium radiator From MRP

Racing Beat Coolant hose kit From MRP

NEW PLUGS plugs From MRP

BLACK HALO UP RATED COILS AND LEADS

NEW HOSES FROM VIPER PERFORMANCE ( for the supercharger and other ancillaries)

Red anodised pulley kit for a little bling

Engine removal/ installation  by BISPOKE Performance and me and fitting of all new secondary parts

Then  tuning/ mapping

I feel there is more to add but that,s the list for now the build will have some write up and photos another chat with Clive to day and let\'s go

The reason I am doing Or going down this road is I put so much in to the project over the years and having look around at other car,s for what I could get for the 8 at the moment is about £8500.00 so with the £8000 spend that\'s £ 16.5k so what\'s out there as a one off for that price and the power and the drop dead good looks of an RX-8   NOTHING !,,

Post by: exiled-viking on December 06, 2013, 09:04:40 PM
yes its mounted forward of the radiator this has caused problems with engine heating at first but after some mods and a new front bumper with larger air intake,s and two ram air ducts one fitted with a fan that comes on auto/ or manually this was done due to the car standing in traffic on a hot day if you see the engine temp rising you can switch the fan on and force air through the duct through the intercoolers and up to the supercharger air intake and around the engine bringing the air and engine/supercharger temps down while stationery,

This duct will close when the engine/supercharger is back at its normal operating temp, but if you decided to rag the car a little you can over ride the left duct once again by manually switching it on it took quite a lot of time and a few mods to get it right but i have now cracked it also helped with having the vented bonnet, as mines not just for show a some members from another club have commented on
the bonnet has been modded to let hot air out with the rain trays fitted.

What ecu are you going to use and what psi do you hope to run the blower at? Other that fuel pump what other engine upgrades are required? And what is the expected bhp gain?   Very interested in this route for me at a later date.
Title: New Engine Project
Post by: Will66 on December 20, 2013, 06:44:39 AM
It has an HKS F-Con V ECU and the blower runs at 8 psi. The kit was sold without needing a fuel pump upgrade but the stock RX8 pump gets a bit tired after a few years so an upgrade prevents it going lean in later life.
Title: New Engine Project
Post by: exiled-viking on December 21, 2013, 11:52:05 PM
This engine build is being done due to the fact that its almost done 50,000 miles on the clock and so i feel i have had its optimum life span now and i want to keep the car  also when the new engine has been built i will still have a old engine that will be built to the same specks as the new build so i will have one on the shelf as a spare!!!

My HKS ECU is an F-Con IS and its running well below 8 psi, (so plenty of room to expand my build )  The fuel pump will be a walbro 225 and this is being fitted to omit intermit-ant delivery over 7800rpm with the set up i have, we have plans to beef up some of the internals and street port and supercharge the engine.

Also i intend to fit one of these  Mazda RX8 OIL SYSTEM UPGRADE KIT
04-08 RX-8 Racing Beat Uprated Oil Pressure Regulator - 90-95 PSI plus Thermal Bypass Pellet Replacement kit so you know the oil is properly getting to the places it should all around the engine as part of the build.

The new aluminium radiator with the better racing beat oil cooler lines will also help in cooling. plus up rated water pump, a bespoke ram air system working off two 55mm ram air pumps to help with air flow from the superchargers intercoolers through to the the cars radiator, plus air flow over and past the exhaust manifold.

A slightly different exhaust system  RACING BEAT 3" STRAIGHT THROUGH SILENCED DE-CAT PIPE

The engine will have my old map in at first but will be remapped as we go along

when i first started the build some 6 years ago, it was a project with belts and braces, and even on its third engine second supercharger  this present  set up has been running for the last 18 months at up and around the middle 350 BHP there was still plenty of performance left how ever i still want to get performance, fuel economy, and engine longevity, as a daily driver, I now feel the way we intend to go the below quoted BHP might be able to obtain if not i still will have one hell of a road car.

I have got some of the donor engine stripped down, the main bulk of it will be sent to clive to hold till we start the build the rest of it will be worked on by me

I am hoping for around 370 to 390 BHP again of 30 BHP would be nice and i think not asking to much

the plan is to run mine till the new engine is built then swop out some of the periphery and add the parts that in am doing and add a refurbished supercharger

hoping the car should not be off the road for more than two weeks also when the engine is out this will be the time to add all the add on,s and give the engine bay a good overhaul.

As we progress i will post up some facts figures and plenty of photos of the build
I do not have the knowledge of all the rotary as sum but there are a lot of clever people out there willing to give me a hand in this new venture.

I am a person that likes to do it, get it done, show its working, and then talk about it.

spent so far £3570.00 total build cost for what i want around £8000.00

And why not you carn,t  take your money with you and i might die tomorrow but at least in my retirement i am doing what i wanted to do and thats have fun

I have ask Clive (MRP) to get the seals from this company ( see link below ) in stead of the ones in the rebuild pack sold buy him there\'s nothing wrong with the ones he sells but these look a little more beefy and come in different sizes so when the engines striped down we will know which tolerance and size to get.    see the link below

todays up date

First thanks to clive MRP for the big delivery of my rebuild kit yesterday NEW Aluminium Radiator, front slam panel, engine rebuild gaskets, Racing beat oil cooler pipes, and the best part the chat and updates, also thanks for taking the other engine off my hands to London to start the bigger better more modified ported rebuild with the supercharger and engine mods i hope to get another 20/30 more BHP from this new project.

Today got all the rear end bumper and exhaust pods/ and front slam panel  ready for collection to night for spraying. over at seasend, spalding

Tomorrow the  racing beat exhaust mods will be ready for collection from graham at custom chrome,

The front end ATH hinsberger which clive is getting me will be highly recut and  modded I would like a very aggressive look to the front end.

Have decided that as now i am fully retired that theirs no rush to get the car on the road so i giving my self a good year /18 months, for the rebuild and the engine mods and up graded remap for the HKS ECU engine management system,

At the moment i am working on amanda,s polo GTI going to get it wrapped for her birthday   got to look after my number one girl:rollin:rollin:Viking

Just a little up date I have got a second engine for the project after the first engine was a none starter i had to source another one which we got just over a week ago.

So the new street ported engine, clutch, supercharger, with Racingbeat oil cooler lines, and the new radiator, new coolant hose,s, new pulley kit, fuel pump, and full racing beat exhaust system these new bits can now go a head and fitted.

Today i have spent the full day panel beating the rear end out, now finished this and resprayed it, now waiting for the new bumper and exhaust surrounds to be delivered hopefully the rear end should be finished in a couple of weeks, then i can start on the front end which will take a little longer but still on track for getting the car on the road for late september/october:Giggle

The best bit is i have done a deal with the insurance company/loss adjuster they are paying me to fix the car, its not much an hour but who gets paid to do there own project.:Giggle:Giggle:Giggle

Well after talking to the build guys and Clive over the weekend ( by the way thanks Clive good day out) I have decided to bite the bullet I know I said I have  bought a running engine but it\'s housings have got some mileage on them so it could lead to complications at a later date, the only way to over come this is to buy two new housings this will help Kerim and j dee in the long run and give me peace of mind.

I told Amanda that it was a little more to the budget all seems well she said how much I then said I tell you when you get back from work by this time she had forgotten about it :Nono!

So I think Clive is going to get a new order as soon as I can get to the bank :Hammer

So that\'s another £1300.00 approx to the build :eek: money where dose it all go :Typing:Typing:Typing

The rear end body kits back from the sprayers so I will get this going on Thursday

THE CAR SARGA ..For those who follow the car project thread ...Sorry guys not been around for the last five weeks or so due to getting the car sorted had some ECU FAULT CODES that needed sorting out along with a few wiring faults, in the end the bloody engine had to come out due to most do the wiring is under the super charger and the found that the crank sensor and end plate where at fault the crank timing plate two of the teeth where bent with a 3 mm deflection and the crank sensor had overheated this caused along with the ECU CODES AND WIRING FAULT TO BLOW THE SEALS thank god for Goopy Apex saved the engine they just bent back and did no internal damage any other seal would of shattered and caused massive internal damage so I started from scratch again and it's been well worth it !!!

A Word Of WARNING any one buying D585 Coil Packs, I bought a coil pack set 18 months or so ago we found out these were a cheep Chinese copy and if fitted could and would have caused a massive failure these where bought through a very reputable Dealer/trader thank god they where a spare set any way I have a New BHR spare set now .  I got Essex rotary to supply me with another set of BHR ones as they say Accept No Substitute!

yes some bloody spiders are big ones. but its the birds we have a dawn chorus every morning, they seem to roost in it also this year we have 17 nests, at one time 8 on the go at once Amanda insists the Ivy is trimmed 3 times a year, As we are on a hill top  the house is nearly 40+ feet high, so trimmer in one hand and the other one on the ladder praying my numbers not up each time LOL .

Hi Tony what sort of costs involved with wicked coating carbon....i have a nice clean rx8 plastic inlet plenum sat in my rebuild box !

what I would do is give them a call or they have on there site and email set up where you can get a quote buy posting a few photos of what you need they also would need to know what coating you would need there are quite a few carbon effects you can chose from my tanks where cover,d in carbon effect coat YH143

wicked phone number 01202622258

each job comes with its own price but the quality of work is very good I had a small problem with one part 15 months after they just took it back and redid it on cost only postage one way. I cannot fault them hope this helps a little,

Hi Jon I just Bought Amanda the snooper as it has GPs but only has 120 deg as the transcend ha 120 up to 160 but Amanda chose it In the end the price is around the same I had snooper stuff before mainly speed detectors, but this is easy to use  Halfords have a good range and wait till the have one of there offers and you can get a good buy I would recommend you having the GPS auto switching on you can hard wire most of them there are ones on eBay but you get what you pay for. the snooper saved another 15% off insurance as well.

The only thing I done in that area is change the side lights to brighter LED,s and polish them back from being cloudy then covering them with the Covex film if I had a spare pair I think I would mod them but there a little expensive bit of kit to play around with and get it wrong !!

Small 15 Min Mod today as I use A CTECK trickle Charger I needed to see if it was keeping the battery In tip Top Condition so I fitted a volt meter on a push switch as not to drain the battery when not hooked up to the Charger, so it give Volts in at around 14.9v on connection then dropping down to 14.2v then trickle at 14.v.

When disconnected the battery which is in tip top reads  anywhere from 12.7v to 13.5 volts  mine sits on 13.5 for around 24 hours and drops to around 13.2volts for the rest of the week happy with that.

Also when disconnected from the CTECK and Engine Running it will give you Alternator Inputs so it has a few functions that could be Useful when doing any fault finding at the touch of a button. ;)
