Hi everyone just about to purchase an rx7 3rd gen with a engine and tip has gone ? I have always owned skylines and evos never a rx7 but always wanted one. I want a rebuild with porting and am looking for around 400 hp. Obviously I will need a different turbo set up car apparently was already ported has charge cooler and a few other bits already done. I have spoke to haywood in the past who were very helpfull just wondered if anyone had any suggestions of who to use for rebuild an how much am I looking at for a rebuild with porting half porting ? For around 400 bhp. Apparently 2 housings are fine whatever that means please help?
Thanks
I think you\'ll get lots of suggestions.
I find it\'s a very personal thing and ppl who are happy with whoever they use will suggest using them.
I\'ve used Hayward for ten years and I\'m very happy with the service but I\'m sure you will get the same reccomendation for several other specialists.
Most ppl stick with one, so can\'t say who could be better.
I\'d talk to those suggested on the phone and see how you get on with them, usually a good sign.
John
Many thanks any idea on price for that sort of build ?
John
A stock engine can hit 400 bhp with the right single turbo conversion and boost.
I would go for good street port, good street ports can hit over 500bhp with the correct turbo and ancillaries.
Your choice apart from Hayward are
RX Motors
WGT
Powergains
Reworx
Myself I use Oldones for my ported engines for the last few years that have given me my best results.
The Oldone Street ported engined cars I have mapped for people in the past have all been between 400 to 500 on quite low boost.
Price wise all depends what needs replacing on the engine, anything from £1500 standard rebuild reuse everything but new seals to approx £4k for a full race spec engine
Thanks for the reply I will have a look around
Use one that has a long warranty or pay the price !

Powergains And No One Else !!!!! Seen Other People Engine Work, porting Etc. They Not Even Comparable With Kerim And Jay:d Work .
All the above are good options, if your looking for someone nearby then Steve Rivett is based in Whittlesey, Peterborough, he is a very good builder/porter and offers a decent warrenty too. If your after a personal service at a decent price then give him a shout, he will happily talk you through everything. Number is 07795967850. Say Dale sent you :driving
Thanks everyone\'s don\'t know who to use now realy liked hayward then I saw oldens website which looked great now someone says power gains no one else ha ha thanks for all replies
Normally its down to proximity but if your happy to travel then Your best bet is ringing around and having a chat with each builder, this way you can compare prices and what they have to offer. As above most builders are reputable and each have their die hard fans who will tell you all others are terrible. Hope that helps
Hi bud The housing are what the rotors run around in and if a tip is gone these get scored so i would be thinking 1 housing is scrap. Fire up you tube and search on rotary engine and everything will become clear as there are loads of excellent clips explaining how the engine works and how it all goes together.

Heard that Rotaryrev\'s very good one and it\'s based near leeds,, midland?
Ben @ Rotary Revs generally deals with RX8s but would probably do an RX7.
Thanks everyone I am based in West Midlands but I don\'t mind travelling or delivering the car I don\'t do things by half so would want something special and don\'t mind paying more for a good job. Whatever has gone tip or housing ect I would want a full rebuild anyway so will contact all the specialist
Thanks again
Hi everyone spoke to hayward Friday who were very very helpful basically my build including a bridge port which is what in going to go for is roughly 4k plus I will need a turbo maybe a gt35 which is roughly 2500 would be slightly cheaper for a street port what does everyone think? Still got to ring the other companies
Cheers
Don\'t forget to factor in a clutch to handle the power and swap whilst engine out.
Try Dave Hg on here. He built a few for me at a good price. Can\'t knock his work. Meticulous :)
Thanks for replies its so difficult to know who to use
Personally i\'d choose a well established builder that\'s been round for quite a few years and with a great reputation....and comprehensive warranty to back up there work that covers track days as well.
Great stuff thanks I will do
Don\'t forget you will need supporting fuel upgrades for the single turbo, clutch too etc.
You will get the thumbs up for Hayward\'s from me, he\'s my go to engine tuner guy.
I would go with a street port if its your weekend car. You will achieve the same peak hp on the same turbo but not the same kind of mid range, slightly earlier spool up with a bridge over a street port.
With the gt35 you will easily make 450-500 fwhp on a relatively boost setting.
Check out edrx7 parts for one of his turbo kits
Thanks for the info it\'s much appreciated
Have you managed to get in contact with Steve Rivett yet?
