Title: Another headlight issue thread
Post by: shifty on September 15, 2013, 09:27:08 PM
Well the darker evenings are here and the other day I went to use my headlights and there dead they dont pop up light up anything all i have is side lights,
ive had a search and theres lots on no light and lots on they wont pop up but cant see anything on both together ive checked all fuses and apart from the relay by my foot ive disconnected and reconnected them all.

Update.
So had some interesting finds on my lighting issue

find number 1 this relates to the up and down well ive confirmed the motors work .
I checked the switch for continuity and it seems fine but thought I would check if juice was getting through anyway figured out that there is little holes on the side with some metal tabs and these relate to the terminals so though il test for voltage there anyway tested a few with my meter clamped to ground and as I stuck the prob in a hole my mate started jumping up and down and low and behold they where up:eek:, so happy days but now they wont go down so I stuck the prob back in the hole and pushed the switch and they powered up and down no problem,
So could this be a grounding issue?
Heres a pic of where I poked my pointy probe

Ok now for number 2 this relates to the actual lights themselve as regardles to them being up or down they still dont light so we decided to dumb it down a bit and check to see if the lamps had blown and as I pulled the drivers side out the connecter fell of and I found this....

this may have been due to the vented light cover so will need to do something about that but for now I duck taped the vent and crimped some replacement spade on which fit sorta (they where tight  so there good for now).
Unfortunately still no lights so I checked the otherside andthe connector was ok although some really dodgey through crimping had been done which a fixed well a better bodge job.

So im still stuck I can suffer the up and down prob for now but the nights are getting darker and I will need lights soon when I leave work not to mention my MOT in October.:(
