Hello everyone,

I have been on here for a while and I thought it is about time to start a project thread. Some of you might know the car. She was owned by Ali303 on here (link// http://mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=72166) and the car used to look very good under his ownership.

By the time I have bought her roughly a year ago she looked a bit tired. The engine was great and even the sills are looked ok however the paint was very dull, full of scratches, had a small accident with the previous owner and rust on lots of bits.

Decided to get a respray on the outside so I took the car to a recommended body shop near me. Straight away they have found lots of rust on the sills and arches underneath the paint. Somebody tried to hide it with a great amount of filler. Those areas needed to be fixed however long story short the body shop decided to mess me around for a few months. Every week I have been promised that the car will be painted by the following week as the welding is done already. After 5 month I have decided take a surprise visit as they have stopped answering. Well, the car was in pieces, standing outside in the rain and they haven\'t done anything to it. Straight away called a trailer and moved the car to a friend of mine who sorted out the welding in a few afternoons.

So after a bad start I have finally managed to put the car together. It was like a puzzle. Bits were missing, broken bolts everywhere.

Also gave it a good service and clean. Oil, plugs, filters, fuel pump etc. So today the car starts and drives again. Pretty much everything is working.

To do list:

- She is going for a respray next week
- need to under seal ASAP also general tidying and painting bits
- change belts
- I have a set of cusco coilovers to fit
- sort out wiring issues
- need a power fc because the car stalls sometimes from higher revs ( due to the very light flywheel and the Exedy six puck clutch)
- have a set of GP body kit however I might leave it standard as I really like it that way. If I do I will need to find a front lip spoiler to suit the side skirts.
- need a new roof
- and I need to drive it :)

That is it for now. This list will grow later on.

Best,

Gabor

Thank you guys for the comments. Yes she is a great car and doesn\'t need lots of work.
There is a few rusty areas I will need to sort out but they are all easy jobs.

The biggest problem I have is that I\'m not a mechanic so every small step takes a lot longer then to someone professional. For me a simple oil change is a big achievement already. :) I guess everybody starts from somewhere...

Hopefully I will have some new updates soon once she is painted.
I have decided to keep her red. Possible darker red with the advans painted white.

Here is some inspiration

Hello everyone,

I\'m in a need of a little bit of help here. :) I went for a quick test drive today (after almost 1 year of standing). The car idles perfect around 800-1000 rpm. However when the rpm is higher then 2000 the car will stall when it drops down. Mainly during driving when i change gears and not standing. First I thought it has something to do with the light flywheel and the excedy clutch but I\'m not sure anymore. Has anybody here had similar problem?

Just to add the car will start up again no problem afterwards. Also I have tried to tweak that little screw ( not sure about the name) which adjusts the idle but doesn\'t seem to do anything.

Any ideas would be appreciated!

Finally some updates. The car came back from the body shop a few days ago.
Really happy with the quality of the paint.

Also the coilovers are fitted. At the moment it is way too low so will need to raise them up a bit.

The next thing will be on the list is to fix the electrical issues, like one of the indicator stopped working, radio and gauges only works if the lights are on.
Also need to under seal it properly as soon as possible.
And the most important is to start using it!!! :)

Thanks for the nice comments! Yes I\'m really happy with the paint job and also glad that I\'ve gone for the original colour and I haven\'t fitted a body kit.

I\'m hoping to have some more updates soon and also to book the track day on the 9th of December at Brandshatch. So the car needs to be ready by then.

Thanks,

Gabor
