Hi everyone,
I was wondering whether you could help my mates FC. He wants to up his boost but it keeps hitting fuel cut. He has purchased the racing beat fuel cut thing but it still cuts the fuel even if the boost is increased by 1psi. Any ideas?
Cheers :-)
What boost is he running before the increase? Can\'t think of a reason yet just tryin to get a picture of the issue
I had this problem and also ordered the RB defender but before it arrived I discovered a small vac pipe had come off.
Pushed it back on and it cured the issue.
I thought the fuel cut defender maintained stock boost of around .5 what\'s he doing to increase the boost safely
He is running stock boost at the minute. He also has an aftermarket ecu but apart from that its all I know. I just think its strange that even 1psi makes it cut. I\'ll get him to check vac hoses just incase
You say he\'s running stock boost.
I was lead to believe stock boost for a T11 is no where near 1psi more like .5 - .6
Perhaps more knowledgeable ppl can clarify.
Std boost on a S5 T2 is 7.5psi the rb fcd tricks the std Ecu so that it thinks its still running std boost when it\'s really @ about 11psi ! But if ur using a aftermarket Ecu then it shouldn\'t need the rb fcd as ur Ecu should b mapped to a higher boost setting than std! Either ur Ecu or ur rb fcd is not working properly or there not compatible to work together as the rb fcd is ment to work with the std Ecu!

Yeah I meant 1psi extra lol. Should have been clearer to you haha. Umm yeah ill try to get some more info from him on what ecu he has and ill get back to you. Like you said you should be able to the boost from that. Cheers for the help. I\'ll get back to you with the results :-)
From my experience the Knightsports FCD is one of the better ones available, they are cheap second hand and generally reliable.
In order to acheive a clean burn in the emissions control system the FC overfuels quite a lot anyway at various stages in the rev/load area, so it\'s reasonably safe to increase the boost to around 10psi. The generally accepted consesus used to be that the stock fuel system could cope upto 1bar, but personally I would want a safety net in there.
Also worth noting that the stock boost guage is about as much use as a chocolate tea pot. Fit a good aftermarket guage before you play any further and get a good of idea of how much bost you are really running.
Finally, I recommend fitting an exhaust system of around 3" bore and coupling this with a good boost controller.
I saw around 250fwhp/200whp average at about 12psi.
(Do some digging for my old TII thread and you will find the write ups.. might be in the sticky section at the top still)
:wave
Stock boost on a TII is 8.6 psi - about 0.6 BAR, those figures on top of atmospheric pressure.
if you get cut with even just a little boost, I don\'t think that\'s the ECU doing boost cut - you have some other issue there.
As Brett says, although the ECU will cut boost, the maps in the ECU actually do go to 1 BAR, but the problem is the old fuel systems in the car probably won\'t - and you\'ll have problems. The stock turbo gets inefficient about 12-13 psi, but can be persauded to go closer to 15 psi, but it will really heat up the air. The stock intercooler is simply no good after 12psi.
I am guessing ignition breakup, ask your friend when they last changed their HT leads, they are a service item and have a limited lifespan.
Right, I\'ve got some more info. He has already changed his HT leads. He has also tried:
A manual boost controller with the aftermarket ecu, with and without the Fuel cut defender.
A manual boost controller with the standard ecu, with and without the fuel cut defender.
He has fitted an aftermarket gauge with he says is reading about .5 bar of boost.
It doesn\'t matter what setup he uses it still hits fuel cut with any amount of increase on .5 bar.
Any ideas lol?

hi m8 try it without the boost controller! as i did`nt have one on my T2 running std ecu, rb fcd, 80mm straight through exhaust from turbo back, blitz sonic induction with cold air feed, air pump removed, double pulley, magnecor 10mm spark plugs, & got 238 fwhp on the dyno!
Get a different FCD in there and see what happens.
