Spoke to the owner through email, he seems a very nice guy with some very expensive toys (Diablo and 911 to name a few).
I know Jurgen of JM Imports well and he said it was a great car when he had it. The owner has all plastic trim etc to make it into a standard ish interior again.
My thoughts are will it be laggy...? My Supra ran a t88 34d and was very laggy until 5k rpm, but made a healthy 730bhp. This is a smaller turbo but the same old design. Id be changing the body kit to a feed widearch, and Id change the rear lights back to normal. The car seems to have only done about 5k kms in 5 years or so, with old omt\'s to prove.
Is this car known on here...?
Looks like a nice car. Parts such as lights, bodykit, etc can easily be changed to your tastes as you\'ve said. Interior is relatively easy to put back in, just time consuming really.
I had a T78 34d on a previous RX7 I owned and it was a great turbo. It might not pick up its feet as soon as a GT35 but it wasn\'t laggy and the power keeps on coming right to the redline. If you\'re concerned about the engine a compression test would be a good idea and just check its not burning coolant when inspecting it.
If it all checks out I would say its well worth the asking price with the nice expensive parts on it. Low mileage on the chassis is another plus point. Its certainly a lot better than some of the dog rough examples I\'ve seen for sale recently.

Thanks for the reply mate,
Owner says a compression test was done around 500kms ago, all above 7 bar with 5 psi difference between highest and lowest readings...
Looks like I might have to go have a look at it
This car has come up on another thread on here or maybe FDUK. Most peoples views on it was that its overpriced IIRC. Probably going to be long winded to find the thread but i also remember people even telling him its way over priced and he replied saying he dont need the money so is sticking to the asking price. rings home what you say regarding the other cars he owns and rings true that he clearly does not need the money! lol
Lower offers have clearly been refused.

Thanks for the reply,
I saw the car up for sale for around £12k last year, he has dropped the price alot since then. It even says in the advert £11k if you read the write up. I personally think its well priced at £8.5k if he would accept it...

Yes spot on, it was priced around £12k last year but £9k or nearest offer is not overpriced for a decent example with all the parts fitted. You will see some come up for around £7k but they tend to have issues such as poor bodywork, niggly mechanical issues or just bodged together in my opinion.
As you said, can\'t beat going to view the car in person and making an informed decision. Any car can look good in the pictures unfortunately!

As I understand, because the rotary engine wastes so much energy down the exhaust pipe, it spools up turbos better than an equivalent piston engine. So a turbo that was laggy on a Supra might well be fine on an RX-7.

Ahh ok then that makes sense in that case.
correct:wiggle

Plus a 450 to 550bhp bhp Rx7 is a quicker then a 600 to 700bhp Supra ;)
In regards the car for sale, it looks fugly with those ebay front lights and rx8 type rear lights cheapens the whole car, that be the first thing I change
It\'s been for sale 3 years no idea why no1 want it...

I agree,
Ill be posting a wanted thread for some of the dark rear lights if I buy it straight away. I dont mind the front lights, but would famcy a pair of the ones with the clear cover over them. I need to do some research on where to buy these things and how much they are.
Would be going with the feed wide arch kit on it aswell at some point, is there any demand for the mazdaspeed bumper/skirts that are currently on the car...?

1) It\'s been priced rather high for most of those three years, but this has now been reduced to a more realistic market price
2) Some of the exterior additions (lights) make it look very cheap, even though it is probably actually 95% high quality modifications, the 5% tat is I guess putting people off what is a good underlying car
3) It\'s in Scotland.
I think it\'s easy to see why no-one\'s bought it before now, but that doesn\'t mean it wouldn\'t be a good buy for someone.

I agree with this entirely...
I really like the look of the front, but the rear lets the car down. I thought it would be better to view a car with a good spec with minor cosmetic issues than to buy a car which looked exactly how I wanted but didn\'t have the expensive engine/chassis parts fitted.
If I did buy I would try to find some 99 spec rears, take off the rear wing and find another, remove the rear spats/front bumper and skirts, get feed front, skirts and arches and get some new wheels.
If I could sell on the mazdaspeed stuff and sparco wheels (that I\'ve been led to believe cost £3k new... :eek) i could probably get it looking just how I wanted for about a grand... A lot less than buying a nice looking one and having to spend £3k on parts and mapping...
been advertised forever, dont be a mugg like me and pay the asking price
I\'ve clocked this 7 a few times on ph and do remember when it was listed at £12k.
That would probs be really the reason it hasnt sold.
Imo location shouldn\'t be a reason to put a buyer off a car.
If it looks to be a well looked after, good condition car then the trip is worth doing if committed to buying what you want.
I was looking for rx7 for long time couldn\'t decide on one till I saw one on piston head and it felt right from the pics I don\'t know why went to see it and I know deep down im gonna buy it then I make it him an offer he said no then he call me the next day to come and buy it happy days :) end the day it\'s all bout how you feel bout it ,and of course with inspection before you buy...good luck...
Hey Guys,
Is anyone familiar with this RX7 for sales: http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/mazda/rx-7/uk-spec--mazda-rx7-twin-turbo------------------1993/1890443?isexperiment=true
Youll pay a lot more for a uk car as opposed to an import. Needs the all important compression test results or lenghty warranty .
and check underside well. Very rare to see an unmolested 93 model.
Just for the records / FYI.. Add has already bought an FD and is well on his way with modifying it :)
