Not sure if I’ve done the sensible thing but I’ve been looking for a hobby and this T11 engine came up on ebay quite close to me so I went to have a look.
Took the plugs out and turned it over, socket on the fan pulley and it turned easily with nice ‘pops’ from both front and back.
As you can see from the photos most of it seems to be there, the obvious missing bits are the power steering elements.
Any way of telling how old it is.
So I thought that as my current engine is running well now would be a good time to rebuild another when time and cost won’t be the driving force and for £275.00 thought it worth a punt.
I did rebuild my FD engine with help from the box set DVD, which I no longer have, so if anyone has one to sell or can point me towards a source that would be appreciated.
I also had a great deal of help and support from both Clive and Carl [Mr Hayward Rotary] I hope I can bank on the same this time :god.
So it’s a complete strip down, evaluate what I have and hopefully rebuild it to be more powerful.
I’d like to get the sort of power my old FD had, be interesting to hear what you would do to achieve this whilst still making it ‘comfortable’ to drive.
I’m expecting this to be quite a long project, going back together cleaned, shiny and painted.
As you can see from the photos the first job is to get it out of the voyager.
Whatever happens gotta be better than watching the soaps.
Thanks
John
