Title: is it really worth going for a single turbo?
Post by: MattyGTI-R on July 29, 2004, 02:50:37 PM
as title says really, is it really worth going for a single turob on the Gen 3?

surely higher boost on the standard turbos are enough for some quite big power? say 1bar?

or will a bar on the standard turbos cause it to go pop?

Depends what you want really.  I quite like the feel of the twins myself.

Simple thing to do would be to go to one of the meets.  Our monthly Dartford one cant be too far - depends where in Essex you are.

Lee beat me to it, try to make one of the southern meets and ask nicely for someone to take you for a spin:)

Theres a meet at reading too, not sure when though, will be posted closer to the meet date in the meetings section.

1 bar is about the limit for stock twins, remember you got to upgrade your ECU is a must otherwise you will run lean!
If you try and run stock twins more then 14psi it will generate more heat then power.
Go single if want mega power. I think 390 flwheel horsepower on stock twins is about the limit if everything else is upgraded, which is more then enough for most people, anything more you need to go single.

The other side, literally the first exit immediatly after you go over the bridge and then you practically there.  We are in the pub under the CROSSWAYS sign.

Next one is the 10th starting at 8pm.  Im sure Clive will post the proper directions again just before.

Of course I posted that about 6 posts up the page, but nevermind me :p

Ill probably go in my S14 anyway, so I wouldnt worry about what you turn up in.  Just dont mistake us for the VW Camper lot who meet at the same time :p
