Title: Tough decisions to make
Post by: mikey-t on July 30, 2013, 04:29:09 PM
As most of you are aware the water seal on my FD went and I started a long project to strip the whole car and bring it back to life as the manufacturer intended.

I have hit many bumps along the way but all dealable, but after 3 months of no action I have gone in today all eager and just lost the whole plot,

Where the car was stored there has been a accident someone hit the axle stand with a fork lift and the jack and some stuff under the car has pushed up on the passenger floor introducing a crease and a small crack.

Now I could continue and do a repair or a reshell and carry on but I have lost heart. I just don\'t know what to do and it\'s bringing me to depression, ever since the sale nothing has been as it appears or explained and I just don\'t want to carry on.

I still want a RX7 but I don\'t want this hassle by the time I have done a reshell/ repair and the engine rebuild and paint I will have spent enough to buy a decent ready made car.

Unfortunately I do not have any money to put down in a lump sum like that.

As you can imagine my head is going mad and I just don\'t know what to do.
Obviously I could part out what I have and put it towards a new car but I have very little of value on the car and that would take time!

I don\'t even know why I am writing all this I suppose I am just hoping for some advice or divine intervention.

What do I do people

Is there any way of claiming damages off the person on the forklift ? Could help you get back on track with another car.

I know how you feel, I\'ve finally started breaking up the FB and I\'m sorry to see it go.

Unfortunately not! It\'s been stored in my girlfriends parents factory. So I don\'t fancy approaching the future in laws in this way, they said they would help out but I am already in debt to them so I think we are square

For what it\'s worth

I think it\'s and old saying but when you have choices and can\'t make you\'re mind up.

Do nothing............................

Somethng will change your circumstances and the choice will be obvious.

How bad is the dent? Pictures please. If you future in laws want to help you then ask them to pay for/ share at a new rolling shell. They aren\'t expensive at all and you might be able to get some back in your old shell if you sell it as damaged/for repair

the problem im having is i have a long history of good show cars and second best is not good enough,
as a project base this was ok but i was mis sold and had a lot of issues, so when i look at the long run with the

engine rebuild
ECU and map (that was meant to be on the car when sold)
body work,
paint job
interior
single turbo conversion
and of course all the little niggles

thats about the price of a ready to roll tidy car, which is all i want now.

add on a repair on something i wouldnt normaly do and its just too much.

couldnt get detailed pics as my phone battery was at the empty stage
just snapped away in the general direction, you can see inside the car from underneath, theres a bold right by the crack which moves the whole bit of metal. and its about an inch away from the seat mount point, which i believe is a MOT fail

what you cant see is the crease in the big bit of box section directly behind where the passenger seat mounts
