Title: Oil Temps?
Post by: Grizzly on June 16, 2013, 02:13:45 PM
Hi all.

Out of Interest what Oil Temps would you expect to see on an Fd with stock coolers etc?

I\'m not sure if my Oil temp gauge is reading a little low as today with the Ambient Temp approx 16degree\'s i was getting between 78-82 degree\'s cruising and 90ish degree\'s after giving it a bit. Does that sound about right?

Where\'s your oil temp sensor?

To be honest that sounds high to me... On cruise mine is around 55-60 degrees and even hooning it it never gets above about 75.....

Dependes on where you are taking temp from but the oil should be around or above 80 C to be warm enough to do it\'s job correctly in the engine. Else the car isnt warmed up enough or are cooling to much with open thermostats or something like that. Or temp taken on the far end of the cool side on its way back.

But hard to compare if temp taken at different places .... witch it most often is.
