Title: New toy
Post by: Brett on May 20, 2013, 10:33:13 PM
So.. I\'d gotten bored of putting hundreds of pounds a month into my LS400.. so I did some shopping around and came up with this cheap little run around :)

I\'m quite surprised how good it is :mmmm :burnout

It\'s fun, but it\'s slower and then you\'ll need to weld the sills.

It\'s been garaged it\'s whole life and waxoyled every year - so assuming I keep that up it probably won\'t dissolve completely :Giggle

early uk spec 1.6 mk1s  were 115bhp, later mk1s 90 bhp, think they changed in 94

Yes i knew that ...uk ones where de-tuned poverty spec no pas 95 on.

due to when the insurance on hot hatches and sports cars got silly in the 90\'s circa 95 and made to compete with the mgf!!!:rollin  most 90 to 94\'s are eunos imports. quite rare to find a 90 to 94 uk model been eaten by rust . All eunos 1.6\'s 115bhp .

short nose crank best to avoid...
had 17 mk1\'s

The UK 1.6\'s were detuned to give a bigger performance gap after the 1.8 became available IIRC.

Great buy, picking such a great-looking open car up for a grand at the start of summer.  Arguably shades an early RX-8 for bargain of the decade!

Have fun (sure you will).

How long until it gets a noisy rotary in it ???

I\'m going to try and keep it largely standard.  It already has an aftermarket exhaust and roll bar.. so will get a high flow panel filter...then get lots of carbon I think :D

Really enjoyed my Mx5 whilst i stepped back from Rx7\'s for a year or so. Although it was a bbr turbo it was rewarding and fun to drive and that was well below licence loosing speeds, 70mph in one of these really feels like it and more.
