Title: Thermostat seal
Post by: leeroy_25 on May 20, 2013, 10:32:11 AM
Does anyone know where you can get the o-ring seal that fits on the thermostat for the FD3 separate to buying a hole stat? or are they supposed to be reusable if removed carefully?
Also, I could do with a waterpump housing and thermostat gasket set if anyone can point me somewhere to get these separately?

Thank you
Lee

For O\'Rings, You can buy them seperately. Pretty sure Demon tweeks sell them but you\'d pay a premium. Ebay if you know what you\'re looking for.

Then again if you only have the stock stat might be worth upgrading it to one with a lower threshold?

Hi have upgraded to a Hi-Flow stat actually but it did not come with the seal. I have the seal off my stock thermostat which look in good shape but I prefer to use a new one if I can get it.. I tried fleebay with no luck. I found some that look the same for another car? But no sizing. Anyone know if they are the same as any other vehicle?

Cheers

TBH i think i would have been taking it back if there was no seal with a new Stat but you can Just use the old one, as long as there is no rips or bits missing just put a light coating of RVT on it and fit. Failing that you would have to buy another Stat to use the seal and that way will cost you £15-20 ish

RTV it is then! A lot of thermostats seem to come without seals I have noticed. I just took for granted a seal would be simple to get hold of!:Hammer
