Hey guys,
My bro is having a look at an RX8 later tonight, its an 04 plate with 52k on the clock. I know about what to look for on the rotary, however he has said it has a resprayed front bumper and the bonnet is lifted by 10mm on one side.
We are both thinking it might have had a low impact front ender and just wondered what could we check to see if its all OK?

If unsure I would walk away as there are many bargain RX-8\'s up for grabs out there ATM
Just got back from having a look at her.
Front bumper has had a poor respray so will need to change that and the rear arches have a little bit of rust on them around the lip.
However he is getting it for around a grand so can\'t really grumble lol
First purchases will be coil pack and new starter motor and then go from there.
Unless the old starter motor is turning slow (less than 200 rpm) then don\'t bother, if it\'s a pig to start warm then compression test it!
Any quick way of checking the starter? I guess its just a case of having a listen.
He has got his bike up for sale that he plans on using the funds from that to do a serious rebuild (ie porting etc) he just dosnt want to have to do it quite yet lol.
Going to have a look at it tonight and sort out a few niggles

i agree.......
ODB II reader to check the starter motor. If going for a new starter motor you will also need to check the age of the battery and replace that as well as the coils, leads and plugs at about a total of £600 as these are all the parts you can\'t buy the cheap versions of.
We changed coils and leads and brake pads the other night after work.
Couldn\'t do the plugs as my socket set didn\'t have thin enough walls to get between the plug and that lip on the engine.
Battery seems OK it was around 12.8v with the engine off.
Started much easier with all that done, going to do the plugs and a few other stuff next weekend.
Could also try seafoaming the engine

I take it that gets rid of any carbon build up in the rotors?
