Title: Anyone used JPS Motorsport in Milton Keynes ?
Post by: Shark on July 26, 2004, 09:31:58 PM
as per the title.  Need a service, new stereo earth and check of the rest of the wiring and a turbo timer installed.

Any comments?  Pretty sure that someone said they\'d used these guys before.

Just need a routine service as I\'ve had the car for 3k miles now and want to watch someone do the basics then decide whether or not to tackle the job myself next time.

any advice appreciated.

Hi,

I\'m pretty sure Ben Linney (importer chappy) uses them for sva prep and serviceing and that they did the initial work on mine.  Don\'t know how good they are but haven\'t heard any horror stories either.

Should be okay for service and the bits you\'re looking at.

Iain

I\'m going to be going to JPS real soon as well.

They got coverage in this months Japanese Performance Magazine and I think they are having a car featured soon as well.

The only thing I\'d say is to get a price up front, but that\'s a rule to be used anywhere I guess!

If you use them, post a report on how it went :)

I guess anyone can service these, just make sure they are using the correct fluids! Iknow the wrong oil is bad for little rubber rings and certain coolants are bad for ally bits inside the engine - something to do with glycol ethylsomethings;)

Actually ..... don\'t listen to me ....... I\'m a bit thick

Well after 3 e-mails and god knows how many unanswered phone calls that just ring and ring at JPS I\'m giving up.:(

Decided to try and do as much as possible myself.  I may regret this but am looking forward to learning and getting my hands dirty.:bandit
Besides I\'ll save money this way!

Be warned I may post up asking daft questions :p

Defi oil temp, water temp and boost gauges to be fitted with control unit, should have em here in a week (ish)

Oil change and probably coolant flush.  changing filters.

Smifta is just down the road and gonna be doing the same things so we\'ll hook up and it should be a laugh and a learning curve for us both. (he says now...)

Guess I was calling at the wrong times, but this was over a few weeks, I don\'t get much chance to make calls etc at work so I tend to try in any slack moment I get.  That\'s why I was so disappointed to not get a reply to e-mail.  thought they\'d be keen to see the car again as they did the last service before I bought it.

No drama though.  Will try them again if (when  ) I get in over my head.

sounds good :)

should be all quite straight forward to do other than the coolant... thats a bugger to get the drain plug out as its right under the plastic guard which is a right turd to get off hehe.  CLOSE YA MOUTH when ya do it ;)

Don\'t forgot to burp it too :D

best of luck dude
