Title: I Want to achieve 450bhp advice please...
Post by: Aliakeel on April 04, 2013, 09:44:04 PM
Hi I\'m gonna be straight to the point,my car is an fd 93 current mods are ,single turbo 366s,850cc injectors all round, high capacity sard fuel pump, 3.5 inch exhaust ,hks 3.2 ecu,pwr intercooler with rad, twin power ignitions, pushing 400bhp at 0.9 bar,and I bought new full system from full function engineering in America new rails and 2000id and 1000id dynamics injectors so all I need to know is possible to achieve the 450bhp with changing the fuel system on my current mods?or I need to change or upgrade something else?

Thanks.

What was your injector duty like at 0.9 bar? If you had plenty in reserve you could try uping the boost and see if you can get a few more horse out of what you already have

What turbo are you running? If on a single turbo just get some more boost in there with a remap. You should be able to get 1.4 bar without having to add/change anything

I already bought the fuel system now and my turbo is Borg warner 366s ,my injectors 850 cc all round so I thought put bigger once migh gain extra 50bhp I wanted ,and my engine is street port is that ok to rise the boost more?

if you going to 1.4 bar you need to change the map sensor (stock map sensor good for 1.15-1.2 bar), defo fit the bigger injectors you bought anyway. Just a word of warning normal high octane fuel (99) gets a bit iffy with pre-det with rotaries on high boost past 1.1 BAR, you could wind back the ignition timing a few degrees on the map will help, I would add WI myself.

But at 1.2 BAR you should hit 450bhp on your setup or close to it

You need to go to HKS a tuner to change the settings for injectors and remap on your HKS ECU, Jaydee should be able to do it for you

Mapping rotarys is a completely different game to mapping boingers. My advise is use someone like jaydee.

I have no connection with any mappers on or off the forum so unbiased.

Defo go Jaydee dude, he has mapped quite a few Rotaries on HKS Ecus, a normal tuner will treat an rx7 like a piston engine and push the timing and probably blow it

Unfortunately I am not a hks tuner, reworx,  pro tuner or mtg who I think are in the Midlands will be able to help you.

Yea I know they bit expensive tho..
So I change the fuel system with remap and my current mods I should see 450bhp
Pro tuner said he will do it no problem "..

I know this sound stupid but anyone recommend to use zex wet nos kit on my car with the new fuel system and remap the lot together.
Or buy WI instead ?
Bear in mind I\'m only looking for 50 shot no more.

Not a lot of people seem to use Nitrous on rotaries, IMO it\'s a band aid for extra power when a good mapping session with a bit more boost can give you better more reliable power.

I would only use nitrous on a non turbo rotary.

Adding more things to a system makes it more complicated and more prone to break.

Why not use mechanical water injection. Guy on here makes awesome kits. Even less problematic as no pumps etc. nice and simple system ;)

I\'m not overly clued up on it but it uses your boost pressure to create the pressure required for the water injection.. It\'s only for preturbo . Eridin I think the guys name is on here

Ok Iv seeing the kit on this website, but do I have to drill throw the air fliter direct to the turbo or I can locate the jet in elbow I\'m not really sure if it\'s good I idea to inject water direct to the turbo tho?

Is anyone else used this mechanical kit here before ?
If its a great idea and much safer than using the pump why not been recommend yet here,or people talk a bout it .

Mechanical injection allows for a simple system. No pump required. Boost pressure chargers your water tank up and start Injecting when boost pressure reaches your set level. Amount of Injectant in teases with boost iirc. Also air atomising nozzles produce finer droplet sizes than a pump system, making it ideal for pre turbo Injecting:):D

Injecting pre turbo is supposed to help spool. It also makes the air being injected by the turbo more dense/more oxygen to burn.

Right that\'s very helpful info thanks buddy
So shall I go and buy this mechanical kit instead of the pump kit ,and you did read my currents mods so is this ok to use on my car with no remap or any crab complication required ?
Title: I Want to achieve 450bhp advice please...
Post by: Grant Monkhouse on April 07, 2013, 07:25:27 PM
Either kit will be good. However you should be getting your car remapped to gain the benefit of the water Injection.

Injecting water on its own can actually lower your HP if your dont map the car properly with it. If you use 50/50 water and methanol injection you get the benefit of reduced det, cleaner engine, methanol is used as a fuel.

THE MAJOR THING IS THOUGH ARE YOU CAPABLE OF INSTALLING ONE OF THESE SYSTEMS YOURSELF COMPETENTLY?

I do think Erdin will install it for you at a cost

Thanks, there obviously more too it than those few lines but a quick skim over helps.

To the OP, contact either aquamist or MWI and ask what they recommend you do. Giving them your setup details can help the tailor something better for you.

To be honest pal I hate it when comes to time to buy something and I can\'t decide witch one youngo for, ,and no I won\'t be install the kit my self I just buy it now along with my new fuel system and go to pro tuner for installation and remap all in same time.
However I still don\'t know witch one to go for.
So if I use pro turbo WI can I use 50/50 or not and of corse need a remap.
Can I locat the jet in elbow or it has to be in air filter.

The main benefit of Water Injection is cooling in the combustion chamber.  Although the pre-turbo WI systems do help cool the intake charge to an extent.  With water injection you will need a good spark, since water is not a fuel there\'s a limit to how much you can run.  Methanol works slightly differently since it\'s a fuel, you can inject more of it (as much as you want in fact), however it doesn\'t offer the combustion cooling that water does.  Methanol does offer more cooling in the intake system than water.  An advantage with methanol being a fuel means that you can reduce the duty on your fuel injectors when running methanol.  Or wind up the boost and go nuts.

A big advantage of either is the lack of carbon build up in the motor, both water and methanol work like a steam cleaner on the engine internals and they do last longer because of it.  You just have to remember to top up your water tank before going crazy with lots of boost.

Pre-Turbo mechanical kit, no pumps to go wrong and intake air cooling as well as combustion chamber cooling.

Got the devil WI DVC30 progressive kit,new gm 3 bar map sensor, and I think I\'m ready to book the car for remap next month.
Just one more thing how much max out put power comes from street port engine in general ..before it blew up :)

Depends on a lot of things, I\'ve seen Street Ports make 600 hp but 450 should be straightforward.

If you get the spray pattern fine enough then the erosion of the blades (it\'s not melting, if your intake is hot enough to melt turbine wheels you\'ve got immense problems) is minimal and you will get a cooler intake as well as cooler combustion and lower CCP (means you can run more boost).

So why the people invent the per turbo saying in there website they not responsible for any damage happen after you install the kit especially the blades.I just played it safe and buy normal jet spray in elbow and will work fine I think :)

As above if the atomisation of water is good you shouldn\'t have problems. Pre turbo increases the compressor map effeicency ( you know the graph in maths lessons with a cut in half squashed onion on it. I have no idea how you read it though haha

I\'m no expert mate. Just voicing my concerns. It may have been case that mine had a too big water nossle. It\'s still in car just disconnected now lol.

Have a chat on phone with some of these companies and see what they say. I like idea of pre turbo for that reason alone.

Don\'t run a kit pre turbo that isn\'t designed for pre turbo, it won\'t atomise finely enough and will eat your inlet wheel.

Pre turbo kits preferably need to be atomised by air which is driven from the turbo. There is a guy trying to add an air nozzle into his aquamist kit to make it as fine of a spray as possible. The distance away from the inlet wheel effects what happens too.

I just contact Bruce the guy I bought the kit from devil own and he recommend to locate the nozzle 6-8 inch away from the throttle butterfly and it should be fine and keeping my current spark plugs.

The twin power should be powerful enough to ignite your mixture up too 1.4 bar with water injection, but I don\'t think you need to go that high
