Title: FD Stood for a year
Post by: ELA on March 12, 2013, 09:17:15 PM
Any advice on what to expect or the best way to get the car started. Obviously it will need a new battery. Do I need to prime the oil system by simply cranking over or is there a more complex routine required? Handbrake and brakes are probably seized on. Is there anything I should be wary of. My knowledge of these cars is not great

I\'d remove the plugs and squirt some oil into the chambers, then leave it over night before turnig it over by hand.

Was it a runner before it was parked up?

You are likely to encounter sticking brake callipers as well.

Many thanks for the advice Brett:Thumbs-up It was in perfect running order, the guy just parked it up as he has now moved away with work, so I offered him a way out as the tax/insurance has expired. It needs a bit of work to bring it back up to speed but the main issue for me was regarding turning the motor over after all this time.
