hi, parked my 93" 3rd gen up to day when i returned i noticed a medium sized coolant(green) puddle on the floor. only had time for a quick look so not able to trace the leak. the car drives fine, no buzzer, still got ok coolant in. was wondering if there are any known faults that cause this before i can get a better look tomorrow.
cheers paul
Hi Paul,
get underneath the car if you can mate, i had the same problem and it was the intercooler catching on the rad which eventually split the rad meaning new rad!!!
However it may just be a loose hose somewhere or a hose with a split, do not ignore as if your rx starts to overheat it will require a rebuild sooner than you thought!!!
OK matey

Apparently there is an overflow thing on the passenger side where coolant will be pushed out under pressure if there is too much in the system. Don\'t take this for gospel mind. It is just what my spanner monkey told me when mine did that over his workshop! :D
I\'m sure one of our more experienced member will have a straight answer.
I can say from recent experience that if the pressure cap on the AST will not hold pressure, you get coolant pushed out of the expansion tank. Mine left puddles under the front drivers side when stopping from hot.
A quick clean out of the top of the AST (some brown sludge in there), a new cap and a top up with coolant fixed that.
I agree with kbareham, I had the same problem. The seal on my AST cap was riped, had bits missing etc and I started having coolant being dumped. I call RE:Work and got a new one. Since fitting it I\'ve never had a problem (touch wood).
I had a leak from my water pump. Was told it was a fairly common problem. Happens when car cools down and seals contract, etc, which is why you tend to find a puddle under the car after it\'s been parked, but it doesn\'t really leak when you\'re driving. New water pump (£100) and 5 hours labour (ouch), fixed it. Not the easiest thing to get at. Water pump is front of the engine, towards the left hand side (when looking towards the front of the car in the direction of travel).

Gurj hows yers doing now was the overflow tank cracked as that good looking mechanical genious ;) suspected?
Si
Nope no crack nothing, i told you my theory was the fact that i had filled all the water up resulting in overflowing when the water reached a high temp, as when stood there waiting to get out!!!
So you canna gloat bitach!!!! :rollin :rollin :rollin
And officially you dont know sheeeeet!!!!
Only kidding mr.:)
QuoteNew water pump (£100) and 5 hours labour (ouch)
Erk, whoever charged you that is taking you for a ride, takes me about 30 minutes to get the water pump off, and less than that to put it back on again, and im not exactly a mechanic!
i no plenty of stuff to do with sheets!

lol
you dont think i was paying any attention to wot you were saying do ya (http://smilies.jeeptalk.org/ups/dvx_rune/smooch.gif) lol
Anyway back on track any joy with yours Paul?
