I went for a drive in my 200 today, the first one in a hell of a long time and fduk its fast.
Im sur eits quicker than my FD. The turbo kicks in so hard the thing just flies!!!
So it comes down to either my rex is underacheiving, or the 1bar of boost in the 200 is giving it super powers???
maybe if i single turb the rex as originally planned i\'ll get big power surge im getting from the sx?
have ya had ya rex dyno\'d and / or what oost ya running on the rex?
i havnt connected my new boost gauge up yet, but i believe it was 0.8/9 bar. I havnt had it dyno\'d though, my mate also has a rex and he\'s had the boost raised via an Apexi Power FC, his does seem faster but i think that due to increased boost.
hmm seems odd that ya sx seems faster.. they are only 200bhp stock right and quite heavy?
Yeah, think the S13 is the quicker one as it was lighter than the S14. They are quick lil things for sure, but certainly shouldn\'t worry an FD. Normally mid 6s to 60 and around 140 top i think. Started off as about 170bhp and went up to 204bhp in the later S13s (including the X model) and the \'evil\' new shape. The new S15 Aero-R is a monster, but jap only and very very rare.
That said, they become awesome tools after a few mods. There\'s one near you mate owned by a company called Octane Performance which has an RB26DETT skyline lump in it, pushing out about 400bhp! But i think you\'d know by now if it was that one! :rollin
its got a NUrSpecR, Apexi induction, de-cats, and a boost hike. I think its the single turbo kicking in that makes it seem so quick, i think the rex needs one :D
Yeah...speed is a funny thing, sometimes a big increase in acceleration suddenly can make a car seem quicker than it actually is...and vice versa. For example, most NA cars feel slower than turbos in my experience, but i know for sure in a lot of cases it\'s not true.
Horses for courses...some people love the smoothness of the power delivery in a rex, remember someone was saying that about an FD after driving a 400bhp cosworth day in day out.
Single turbo? Go on, you know you want it...:evillaugh
Still, what a lucky guy you are! A 200 AND an FD. Would give my right arm to have either. Or, in the case of the RX, both arms. Although that would leave me with some driving issues. Err anyway, maybe you could time things (roughly) like a 30-100mph dash to determine whether it IS quicker or just feels that way?
is this u still trying to sell teh 200 :P
you never seem see 200\'s doing well on the 1/4 mile, but as mentioned above, a quick spooling turbo will make a car feel quicker. The twin rex is smooth which can hide some the feeling of speed but you only have to look at speedo on a FD and it flys up.
Minty, mine is mapped if you want to see what a single goes like?

tony
That\'s true actually. Seem to really specialise in drift events etc. Also, i\'ve seen several FDs here with boost issues and the like which would of course make a huge difference. Guess all will be revealed when the boost gauge is hooked up!
Do you find that cars out and about are able to do better then they should do against your rex?
I thought the 200sx\'s were really good mid range, not too quick off the mark or on sprints but very good mid range and top end they still push out 155mph, a very under-estimated car. Although it would be very difficult to find a standard one and I reckon a lot of the owners will have theirs mod\'d so probably a worthy challenger with enough power!
Good looking cars as well!
