My FD is currently at Super7 for some basic mods to let me take her out on track. I\'ve previously taken my S13 to trackdays at Blyton, Cadwell Park & Brands Hatch, with Cadwell being very much my favourite.
So, out of the UK tracks that you have driven on (either trackdays or driving experience days), which is your single favourite in terms of driving enjoyment?
The board is limited to max 10 choices, so to vote for a track alphabetically subsequent to G, head over to this thread instead http://mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79110 .
ADMIN EDIT: I\'ve now merged the two separate trackday polls into one BUT the merge process lost the votes on the 2nd thread; Knockhill onwards. If you voted for one of these tracks, please try voting again -sorry :o .
If you know of any tracks that are hosting trackdays this year that I\'ve not listed, please feel free to comment.
Also, if there are tracks you\'ve not driven but want to, or if you want to explain why your favourite track was such fun, then post below :-)
I like Castle Combe, it really rewards being brave. But I also like Brands for the same sort of reason. Goodwood is hard to get to with a rotary due to draconian noise regulations although it really gives you an appreciation of how life threatening 60s racing was.
Sntterton is fun and it\'s only 25 miles from me! Mallory is a bit of a laugh too.
Love Cadwell for the gradient changes and can feel very rewarding.
Shaun
I loved Cadwell Park. I think the fact that you can\'t see the whole track from any one point, the way it thus unfolds in front of you as you drive it, like road driving, makes it feel much more special. I love the way each corner is different from the last, and how they combine together, one corner flowing into the next which just adds to the challenge - and the satisfaction when you get it right. I just wish it wasn\'t so far away !
Oulton is awesome too, very technical in many places. A lot of fun too !
Shaun
Oulton is on my to-do list.
Thruxton is good track, very quick, i did it on my bike years back but you would be lucky to get on there these days, very few days and 89db or lower if memory serves me right. Just goes to show what can be done by local home owners! Also did Mallory on my bike and found it very boring. Thruxton is ok, a bit on or off i found, without a nice series of bends to execute.
Surprised to see you havent got Brands or Donnington on there, full gp circuits of both are on my to do list this year. Spa too, i hear that is just awesome.
Just seen the first page, will be registering a vote on that page :)
No Oulton and Snetterton :(
Personaly I do not have a favorite as each present there own problems to master and once done any and all can become a favorite in there own way :D.
I can tell you everyones least favorite track, Mallory when we went there nobody wanted to go back!,
Personally I enjoyed the long bend after the main straight at Mallory as this presented its own unique challenge with changes of direction required through the corner to get the exit correct.
LOL I am a 1 trick pony!!!! Only ever drove Castle Combe and few local airfield circuits and landow was my first ever years ago!...never needed to broaden my horizons as i love going round Combe it was allot faster years ago with out the chicanes....
Clive - the board only allows a max of 10 poll options, so I was forced to split tracks in the second half of the alphabet into a separate thread:
http://mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79110
(any chance of increasing the max number of options?)
Yeah, go over here to vote for Brands or Donington.
http://mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79109
BTW there are very few full circuit trackdays at Brands, they\'re not allowed to use the far part of the circuit much, since some idiot built a housing estate right by it. Also tends to be pricey when the chance does come up. But I agree I\'d be interested in a full-circuit trackday there.
(double post sorry)
Snetterton 300 due to the nice long straight(s), as its the only track I can get some use of the higher speeds my FD delivers, plus it has some interesting corners.
But I also love Cadwell, due to the twists and elevation changes.
Chris
I would say Blyton is my favourite :yes
Doing Blyton again on Saturday 16th March :wiggle

Just as well this thread wasn\'t what\'s your favorite corner :D
Wow, I could make one hell of a race track made up from various challenging parts of race circuits especially if I included corners like Paddock at Brands, Druids at Oulton, the right hander leading onto the straight at Lydden Hill, turn one at Las Vegas with 20 degree banking to barrel down into etc etc :D
Seriously though I will ask if the options list can be lengthened
:Thumbs-up
I\'ve now merged the two separate trackday polls into one, BUT the merge process lost the votes on the 2nd thread; Knockhill onwards. If you voted for one of these tracks, please try voting again -sorry :o .If the forum says you\'ve already voted then plse PM me (or post up here) with details as it\'s possible the merging has transferred your vote for "option 3" on the original 2nd thread to "option 3" on this thread. I can correct the votes with magical admin powers...............I think Shaunwil voted for Oulton Park and the (not so) clever merging has transferred his vote to Cadwell :Giggle
I agree with Clive, every track has it\'s own character and challenges which means I enjoy them all, but if I had to chose one it would be Cadwell Park, with Oulton Park and Snetterton very close behind :)
nurburgring is miles better than all of them lame tracks:Giggle:Giggle

... and also miles further away, with miles more time, money and appetite for risk required to do it justice. So it\'s really a different kind of proposition to a UK trackday.
Feel free to start another thread on Continental trackdays, Spa is the other obvious one, but I\'ve heard people from the South East have found it worth going over to Abbeville. Not sure if the legendary Zandvort does trackdays?

I also enjoyed Blyton, Lancaster and Bunga-Bunga are good for feeling the slip build up at the rear, it\'s got a nice flow to it and there\'s not much to hit (!). It\'s been nice to see it become more widely known and used over the last couple of years since the re-launch, too, with e.g. Evo doing their COTY there.
However, I\'m curious if you\'ve ever been to Cadwell, which is also in Leicestershire. Having done both, the elevation changes literally elevate Cadwell to another plane of enjoyment, to me - getting wheel spin over the Mountain \'jump\' being just one example.
Cadwell\'s in Lincolnshire, but it\'s awesome!
I\'m an idiot, I meant they are both in Lincolnshire. Doh! (only 35 miles apart)
Anyone know why Cadwell only do car track days on the weekend? All the weekday trackdays are for bikes.
Cars only on a weekend? That\'s probably the best time to do them, don\'t have to take time off work!!

I take the opposite view, I\'d rather do it on a weekday, it\'s less likely to be full and the hotels are cheaper the night before!
:confused: There are plenty of weekday car trackdays at Cadwell. We\'ve always done them on a weekday as they are cheaper. In fact I\'m currently looking at Cadwell on Thursday, 30 May for the trackday list this year - THIS ONE (http://www.javelintrackdays.co.uk/trackday/index.php?option=com_virtuemart&page=shop.browse&category_id=593itemid=11), only £129 at the moment for early bookers :Laugh
EDIT: Just posted up a thread re Cadwell trackday in late May OVER HERE.... (http://www.mazdarotaryclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=79176):)
Ah good stuff!
I was only looking on trackdays.co.uk . All the cadwell car days there are weekends.
Hopefully a weekday date in July will pop up. I\'ve two weeks off and am looking to do Bedford GT on the 15th, but if a Cadwell date pops up then I\'ll do that instead as I\'ve done BGT already.
Well, this is offtopic, but I live about 12miles from Ahvenisto racetrack. Its old trackand and maybe hardest to master. Maybe can compare to your Brands Hatch or Oulton park. Heres few clips. Hopefully it gives some idea of that tracks layout

Only 2000 miles away !!!!
Shaun
MRC Road Trip!
I\'d be so tempted to trailer my car up there when it\'s finished, that place looks awesome. Tree-lined like Hockenheim and the Nurburgring. Also, Scandinavia in summer, 20 hours of daylight, loads of track time.
2000 miles road trip, lol.
Yes, its very technical. I suppose that you can compere Ahvenisto to Nurburgring in some ways. Old track, lots of hight differenses. No safety barriers. (i´m fine,fine,fine,dead...) You really need balls in some curves :)
Unfortunatly, lots of complains about noise lately. Town has grown.
Many quest drivers from other countries have said that it is truely one of the best tracks in europe. It reminds them days form past.
I would love see MRC guys in Ahvenisto with rotaries :)
Yep, I\'m up north and google maps says its a 2000 miles each way trip ! Oulton Park is only 40 miles away from me !
Does look awesome though. Not that much run off though.
