This is a full Open Pitlane day with a 12 car track limit, 36 cars maximum booked, noise limit is 100dBA static test. The day will be run by "Apex Trackdays" http://www.apextrackdays.co.uk/
I have had good feedback from club members who have been on Apex trackdays recently and the price for this day is £169 BUT, if you PM me I will send you a 10% discount code (so £152.10). All bookings must be done via the Apex website direct.
This day also incudes;
•FREE second driver
•FREE passenger
•FREE refreshments on arrival
•FREE instruction if required (first come, first served on the day)
Many members have enjoyed driving at this great track at recent May Japfest days. Situated in a lovely part of Wiltshire, I\'ve had many requests to arrange a full day out there so people can take their time to get to know the track better. For those of you not familiar with the track, here is some video taken from my RX-8 (front nearside foglight position) at Japfest 2012. Turn the sound down as the wind noise is obtrusive! Use the gearwheel, bottom right, to change the quality to 1080p, if you have good broadband :D ;

Plenty of time to sort out any convoys down, overnight accomodation nearer the date. However, as this event is limited to 36 cars, it\'s best people book early to avoid disappointment!
Anyone who is new to trackdays, or just new to Castle Combe, can request a "Buddy" for the day (PM me please). The Buddy will be someone who has driven on many trackdays, including this circuit, and will give as much help, support and advice as they can, based on their track experience. This would include a driving with the "Buddee" as a passenger to show the circuit lines, braking points, apexes, etc. They will also help with checking your car and help with the signing on procedures. You can have as much or as little help as you need until you are ready to go solo!
If you have any questions then please either post up here or drop me a PM.
If you are pretty certain you want to do this trackday, please add your name to the list. Once you have booked please state "booked" against your name.

..got the rest of the vid i was really enjoying that?
^^:Giggle everything I\'ve publicly posted is up my Youtube account. Just got there and search for casey5755. Almost all the stuff I\'ve put up there is trackday related. I know there is at least one other clip from Japfest last year, some might be lower res stuff though. Quite a few other rotary guys also posted up videos so if you search for castle Combe or Japfest you should find them.
cool...thats my nightshift taken care of!
:Giggle:Giggle:Giggle Enjoy...............;)
I now have the 10% discount code and can provide it via PM or email :Thumbs-up
With this event limited to just 36 cars it should be a very good day at this track. I don\'t know how long the discount code will remain valid as Apex reserve the right to withdraw if too many people start to use it! No problem with the first 10, but not sure beyond that.
You can keep an eye on the Apex website as to who has paid. As soon as anyone does, their name immediately appears on the attendees list for the event. I\'m the first on the attendee list so far.....

Less than a month to go now to this one :Thumbs-up
Things are looking good with 8 x RX-8\'s currently paid up to go to this day which, being limited to 36 cars, will make it something approaching an exclusive day out. There are still a few places left, so if you were thinking of coming along, don\'t wait too long else it will sell out!
Remember this event has a 100dB noise limit!

Sorry to hear that - hope to see u at another track day real soon:cheers
Only SIX places remaining for this event, which is less than three weeks away.
BOOK YOUR PLACE NOW, before it\'s too late, you know it makes sense ;)
As I write this there are just FIVE places remaining. There is still time to book, and everyone will, as always, be made most welcome. Any help, before, or on the day is always available to anyone who needs it. With this being Conann\'s "home circuit", I know he\'s always willing to pass on tips from his wealth of driving experience at this lovely track.
A reminder that we are offering the "Buddy" system here for anyone who requests it (just PM me, or post up in this thread). The Buddy will be someone who has driven on many trackdays, including this circuit, and will give as much help and support as they can, based on their track experience. This would include (if requested) driving with the "Buddee" as a passenger to show the circuit lines, braking points, apexes, etc. They can also help with checking your car and help with the signing on procedures. You can have as much or as little help as you need until you feel confident to go solo!
Food - I\'m very happy to go with Conann\'s suggestion "The Salutation Inn" - July 2013 reports of Trip Advisor are top-notch. I\'m felling hungry already just reading the reviews  So, let\'s opt for a meal there on the Thursday night at 7.30pm. Please advise me of any additional names for a meal that night BY MIDNIGHT NEXT SUNDAY, 14th and I will phone to book a table on Monday. I won\'t book anything for the Friday night as I, and I suspect most others, will be driving back at the end of the day. If there are a few people staying an extra night, or very local, I\'m sure arrangements can be made during the Friday itself.

QUERY - there are TWO places booked onto this day in the name of "Mat" with an RX7 FD3S listed as the car they will be driving. Anyone on the MRC, as I can\'t match this person/car to anyone on this thread?
What a great day out that was! With 10 rotaries (9 RX-8\'s and one FD) of the 36 cars at this trackday it was massive fun. Well done to Mat for coming along with his lovely FD :Thumbs-up Great to meet you and hope to see you again sometime soon. Sincere thanks to everyone for coming along and making is such a good social day out too. Great to chat in the paddock and share rides too.
Compared to the manic tracktime at Japfest, this was soooo much more relaxed. Apart from a read flag stoppage, I didn\'t have any waiting time to get out on track when I wanted. What a awesome track this is, so fast with some "challenging" corners.
In summary, a thoroughly, tremendously, enjoyable trackday. Capped by by onboard camera showing I managed a 1m26s lap (with a passenger on board too!). Viewing the footage on a video editor I made the time 1m26.3; S/F line to S/F line. Well chuffed with that (but must get to 1m25 next time out as I\'m now convinced where I can gain a tiny bit extra speed ;))
I\'ll definitely be arranging another trackday down here next year :D

What is that Hugh pitched sound in the video?
There doesn\'t seem to be too many corners at Combe?:(
The sound is my camera picking up something from the ignition; the frequency gets higher as I accelerate :D
(EDIT: actually, there are several high pitched sounds; one, as above, two; the RX-8 8,500rpm "change up now" beep and three; my Rspec coolant gauge warning at 112 degrees!)
There aren\'t many corners, but the main ones; Quarry, Tower and Camp are all high speed with little room for error - no "namby-pampy" gravel traps here. A mistake and it\'s a solid hit to a tyre wall (if you\'re lucky!) or concrete pit wall. "Sicknote" took an unfortunate excursion at "Tower" last year in Kermit, hence Kermit II is now taking shape.
According to the safety briefing, "Quarry" has the reputation of having 25% of all accidents across all corners at all British Race circuits. It\'s a very tricky corner approached at insane speed :Laugh
I think it\'s the ignition I can hear. The other 2 I prety much new what they were:)
I\'ve got the same camera and it picks up a whine from either the alternator or ignition somewhere, sounds like a Mini\'s gearbox.
